Q:I need 12 FT. long railing. How do I order?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello Gibber - Dolle aluminum handrails come in stock 79" lengths. To cover a 12ft span you would need to purchase two handrails (with one being cut down to your required length) and attach those handrails together using our PA8 handrail to handrail connector

by|Nov 25, 2020

A:  In order to cover an 12ft span you would need to purchase two handrails and join them together using our PA8 96080 handrail to handrail connector. Our handrails come in stock 79" lengths so you would need to cut a small portion to reach exactly 12ft.

Q:I need an elbow connector for the 1 1/2" handrail that will do more than a 90 degree corner. I want to create a handrail next to garden stairs and the top post meets the handrail at about 120 degrees. The bottom post is fine with a stock elbow at about 70 degrees but the top elbow won't bend down far enough. I may have to saw off the top of the upper post so that the elbow mounts at the proper downward angle. Any other ideas?

A:  I figured it out! I add an extra elbow with a short connector between.

    by|Oct 16, 2020

A:  Our PA6 96060 elbow is currently the only elbow we offer in the Prova system. This elbow is fully adjustable from 90 to 180 degrees and designed to hit angles in that range. Our PA6 is not designed to achieve any acute angles (less than 90 degrees)

Q:i want to use this rail system on a sidewalk beside a wheel chair ramp can i get posts that don't use the cables

      Answer This Question

A:  Yes you definitely can, Prova posts are also compatible with our PA5 stainless steel tube infill. Our stainless tubes come in a 3/8 diameter

      by|Jun 8, 2020

A:  Yes, you have three choices to choose from. First is the cables, second you can use rods that parallel the handrail spaced every 4". Third you can use glass or plexie-glass. If you are using the handrail on a flat surface (no stairs) than you don't need to use anything.

        by|Jun 5, 2020

A:  i would use a different rail system. This looks great and is sturdy enough for indoor use but I wouldnt expose it to the elements.

          Answer This Question

A:  This particular item (Model #96040 PA4) is just for the aluminum handrail. The wall brackets can be purchased separately, please reference model # 96140 PA 9 wall bracket. The wall brackets come 2 per package, you will need two brackets minimum per each 79" handrail section

A:  All items (wall brackets, end caps, etc.) have to be ordered separately. Overall, it's a very cool system. I just posted (09-20-2019 17:45 PDT) an answer to another question ... which has not shown up yet (because HD is SO paranoid someone might post some 'bad') that shows my setup. I purchased all the components for my rail system (which certainly isnt cheap) but Im willing to pay a fair price for high quality products. This rail system gives a very sleek, modern look. I would have given a 5Star rating but the brackets that fit to the wall and support the handrail clearly require 3 screws per bracket but the manufacturer only provides 2 screws per bracket - see enclosed photo, 2 brackets with 4 screws - not happy that you dont provide the fixings that are required as per your own installation instructions.

Remodeled about 6 months ago, looking for a more modern look. This certainly fit. I bought 2 with a connector and end caps originally. That is what it will take for a standard length staircase (8ft. ceilings). The length was perfect. The code inspector, however, told me I needed wall returns at each end. The reason I did not give five stars is that HD does not offer them, probably because, as I learned from the US distributor (its a Danish product), Dolle does not make a wall return for this. I emailed the distributor and received a call back almost immediately. (see website http://www.dolleusa.com/) While they do not make a return, he offered a work-around using an elbow (which HD also does not carry). They sent me two -- at no charge!!. Just installed the elbow between the ends and the caps.

Make sure to double check local codes before installing. I had the same issue with the handrail needing to return to the wall and could not use endcaps as mentioned by reviewer "roark" for this item. The install guide on HD's site for all the various parts in the system does not mention this as it was designed outside the US. I contacted the company and they were very helpful. I used the wood rail so the options were to miter it as you would a normal rail, or use the elbows. For this aluminum rail I'd assume you'd have to use the elbows. This is a nice system and gets a lot of comments, but it's expensive. If I can swing it in the budget may use this for a future deck also.
