Questions & Answers

Can I use these cutoff wheels with a Dremel rotary tool (and patience) to cut off a stuck tub faucet close to the wall?
ByJan 12, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

These wheels would not be the best opportunity for success. A flush cut would be the best cut and use an oscillating tool with a metal cutting blade. We are always happy to help you, so please contact us through our website or call us directly at 800-437-3635 Monday-Friday 8am – 5pm CST.

      Answer This Question

The Dremel 420 Cut-Off Wheels include 20 in a pack. Unfortunately, we don't have a number of cuts each wheel can cut. For further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-437-3635, Monday - Friday, 8A-5P CST.

      By|Jun 30, 2020

20 pieces in the tube. The number of nails and screws you could cut through before needing to replace the disk would depend on the size of the nails or screws.

        By|Jun 29, 2020

I cut through 20-50 screws before I replace. There are 20 in a pack.

Depends on thickness. More than 1/4" might require larger wheel.

Yes, should cut through no problem

                  By|May 5, 2023

Absolutely. I've used them to cut off case hardened pad locks. You just have to use a bench grinder or a hand file to clean up the cut and restore the viability of the threads.

                    By|May 5, 2023

Yes it will cut threaded rod. It will spark during cutting so I recommend safety glasses and gloves.

                    By|May 5, 2023

Yes, but I would hold it in a padded vise to avoid damaging the threads.

The inner hole is .075", the 420 cut off wheels must be used with the 402 mandrel.

I needed a small enough disc to cut metal. This ended up being perfect. I had to cut a 1/8" from my storm door strike plate. Over time, the frame shifted and the storm door stopped latching. I was able to use this wheel to cut that little extra off the plate. Picture attached. Just took a few minutes. I used this disc on a Ryobi Rotary Tool, which came with many bits, but not these wheels. Later after I was done, I was going to put the Rotary tool away and tool arm hit my workbench top and cracked the wheel. So, while these wheels are strong enough to cut metal, they are fragile if you drop it. Haven't had a need to use on anything else yet, but if it works in tight spots on metal, I'm sure it will take care of other precise jobs I may have in the future.

If you need them, you need them. I always end up breaking these vs. actually wearing them out. They are very brittle but get the job done. Maybe I can upgrade to one of the metal cutting wheels as another option to use less of these. This is the best price I could find in a physical store near me.

                                                  cuts metal cleanly
I like these better than the Dremel snap-on metal cutting disks. These don't make as many sparks. I used these to trim down a tub spout and the corners of a stainless sink (it was going in a tight spot). You can get a clean line if you go slow and carefully. These disks wear down and will break if you twist them when cutting. However, you get a lot of them so they are a good value.

It is okay for small cuts. Anything bigger than a staple will likely shatter the cutting wheel.
