A:  The wheel should cut plastic well, but I would explore other cutting wheels. As the cost of the diamond cutting wheel fo cutting plastic seem like an expensive option.

    by|Jul 18, 2021

A:  The Dremel EZ545 EZ Lock Diamond Wheel can cut plastic. However, we do have a Cutting Wheel for plastic - EZ476. For further assistance, please contact us at 1-800-4-DREMEL (1-800-437-3635), Monday - Friday, 8A - 5P CST.

A:  Not sure how thick you product is or what type of product you’re cutting but it worked perfectly on my 3/8 inch tile floor that was already installed on the floor. I just had to pop it up once I cut across.

This is a tough little tool. I needed to cut some existing travertine tile to install a wider appliance, which it did with ease. While it may look flimsy, this wheel is surprisingly durable. You have to be careful that it doesn't bind in the cut when you move the wheel out of plane as you are moving along the cut. If you are using a powerful tool, it will try to jerk the tool out of your hands. Having completed the travertine cut, I also wanted to remove some ceramic tile along a window sill so that I could install a wider oak sill. The same wheel made a 9 foot cut along a grout line. Because the grout gap was so tight, I was cutting mostly ceramic tile. Eventually, just before the end of the run, the diamond wore off of the very outer edge and I needed to go buy another. But overall, I was very impressed. I broke/chipped a couple of tiles, but that was my fault due to the fact that I did not cut all the way through the tile/grout/adhesive and chipped one tile and broke the top of another when I used a small metal chisel to pop the tile up. However, I kept the piece and was able to glue it back on. Because I am installing a wider sill, the over hang will hide the minor residual blemish. So, if you are wondering, when new, the blade will easily cut straight through ceramic tile. It is expensive, but I believe that you get what you pay for.

I had to remove 1in of tile back-splash for a new over the range microwave since microwaves now go past the standard 16in cabinet spacing and they won't install them unless you have at least 16.5in of space for GE microwaves and 17in for some other brands. This cut through the tile like a hot knife through butter! This was my first time cutting tile and I was blown away at how well this worked. The wheel is pricey, but it was well worth it for my project.

                This is a MUST HAVE
I was smart enough to buy a Dremel many years ago it has served me well over the years. The latest labor and time saver was when I decided to put up 400 Sqft of travertine tile back splash in the kitchen! I have a newer home which means there is a outlet box every 3 feet. no matter how you measure you are going to be doing some cutting! The diamond wheel was a god send! the tile I used was 1"x2" there was no using a saw on this. the diamond wheel makes short work of trimming, cutting and notching stone tiles. most of the work is around the electrical boxes this takes forever to do! but with the diamond blade I was making trim and smoothing cuts in minutes. Use a C-clamp on small tiles it safer and you will have more control over the blade! This has to be the best accessory I have bought in years and after dozens of cuts its still in great shape I'm pretty sure this is going to last me a long time.

Great! Small bit that goes a long way
I used this to make roughly 40 cuts in tiles prior to using snips. I was very hesitant to get the bit as I thought it would not finish the job. I was tiling a 30 Sq Ft bathroom. It did the job perfectly and quickly. Would highly recommend for a small job like mine. Cannot give opinion on larger projects though.

Great blade, even for grout removal!
After using up many blades and special bits for grout removal, I selected this diamond blade. This is an impressive cutting wheel for grout! While all the other wheels I used faded away after removing 1-1.5ft of very strong grout, this diamond one has removed little over 9 ft and the blade still looks like it can remove a lot more. Used 15k RPM on Dremel and took short breaks every 6 inches to let the blade cool (even though it didn't feel hot).

                    EZ-Lock Mandrel doesn't feel safe
The wheel is great for cutting, but the E-Z lock Mandrel lets it down. These wheels are rated for very high RPM, but the mandrel allows the wheel to move laterally. At best you'll get an uneven line. At worst, if it flies off, who knows. There are YouTube videos online about this. I would consider getting the diamond wheel that fits to a solid mandrel

It cut through my mosaic tiles with ease but. I guess I overloaded my Dremel because I burned it up after 1 hour of work. So had to get a replacement model (one that didn’t smoke and burn my hands).

Great for cutting outlet holes in wall tile
Was planning to get an angle grinder with a 4 inch diamond blade but then realized, wait, I already have a Dremel. The Dremel with this blade did the job perfectly, the smaller size probably made it easier than using the angle grinder
