Dremel's line of Max Life high-performance accessories provide long-lasting performance and impressive durability. Built to give you longer lasting, stronger performing, versatile accessories. The Max Life 115HP Carving Bit is coated in Titanium Nitride and is engineered to last longer than the standard, non-coated Dremel 115 carving bit. For use with all Dremel high-speed rotary tools, 5/16" (7.9mm) high-speed cutter works well for detailed material removal in applications like shaping, carving, engraving, hollowing, precision cutting, grooving, slotting, inlaying, making tapered holes or freehand routing. The cylinder shape of the carving bit allows for deep removal of material, cuts flat areas, round edges and makes stop cuts and V-cuts. The accessory tip makes flat bottom slots and grooves, flat side cuts, and makes V-cuts when held at 45-degrees. Two bits included per package.

From measurements of the picture online, I calculate the height of the cutting head to be 1.15 times the diameter, so it would be 23/64" high.

      Cuts PVC Like Butter
Nice assortment for lots of tasks. Needed to excavate a grouted disaster project, tried each bit, it was hopeless. Not because of the bits, but the disaster was a lost cause. Total newbie using these and not sure which will work for future projects. Nice kit and assortment. We have several dremels and have yet to master them. Tried on wood, grout and PVC, cut like butter on PVC. We will be better qualified now.

      sturdy product
These dremel max life carving bits really blew my mind. I use these carving bits for intricate wood work. I have been making a dresser and these bits really were easy to use. They have not broken, and they feel very sturdy inside my dremel tool. I was able to make some really interesting designs which was what I was going for. Dremel is the brand to go for wood design.

It will get the job done
Received this a couple weeks ago unfortunately I didn't find any use for it in the time owned but looking at the product it looks like a good quality product, I admittedly did check the price online and am just astounded how pricey a couple Dremel bits are, but I understand that's subjective and up to the buyer, I myself feel like it should be a larger pack

Dremel Max Life Carving Bit (2-Pack)
These bits are very sharp. I used them on soft pine, oak and particle board with no visible dulling at all. I needed a rectangular slot in the pine and oak and drilled out the excess with circular drill bits then used the bit to clean up and at a 45° angle to make nice corners. Speed recommendations are included in the instructions and were helpful in selecting how fast to run them for good cutting. They fit nicely into the Dremel collet and worked well with no slippage. I like this tool very much and highly recommend it.

Worked well for freehand routing of door hardware cutouts
Despite many years as a Scout (and Scout Leader), my carving skills are seemingly limited to whittling my own fingers. However, I get a lot of use from my rotary tool and thought this carving bit (set of two) might possibly make up for my complete lack of artistic talent. I thought perhaps I could go off-label and use this for freehand routing, but it turns out that this was a supported use, mentioned in the product packaging. It turns out there is no substitute for talent, but these 5/16" (7.9 mm) diameter bits allowed me to create an opening and recess for a latch strike plate, with reasonable control, and without shedding blood (neither my own, or anyone else’s.) These aren’t quite as aggressive as a straight router bit, making it easier to predictably and precisely move the rotary tool. There’s also a cutting surface at the top of the bit, making plunge cuts possible. The depth of those cuts was harder for me to manage, so I ended up following this with a drum sanding bit to better disguise my inconsistency. When playing with a scrap piece of wood to try and do some actual carving, I got best results with a high speed, a light touch, and repetitive brief contact with the work material. The bit appears adequately sharp and durable, yet there’s no way to re-sharpen a dulled bit, so having two of them to a package seems a great idea!

      Solid and Sharp
I recently got a rotary tool for woodworking, and I have been learning how to use it, along with all of the different styles of bits. This one is really cool, it cuts through the wood easily, and it is great for shaping or increasing holes. I can easily carve the wood with this bit, I’m looking forward to using it more in the future so I can try all the other ways like engraving, hollowing, inlaying etc. It seems sturdy, the blades are super sharp, and it feels like a bit that I will have for awhile so I can keep trying it over and over, added to the fact that I have 2 that came with this package.

      Heavy duty and sharp
These bits are much better than anything that came with my dremel. They are very sharp and work well cutting extra material off. The cutter is also shaped to cut on top, but I would prefer a drill bit than trying to control a bit like this to cut straight down. I also got the rounded version of this bit which I like a little better to control since the rounded part doesn't tend to grab the work.

      Dremel Quality
I received the Dremel 115HP carving bits just when I needed it. I purchased two older lamps that did not have the original lamp shades. Instead, they came with lamp shades that were unable to be fully tightened. That was until I put the carving bit on my battery operated Dremel and went to work. The lamp shade was supposed to slip on a plastic piece but the plastic piece had an outside diameter that was just a bit too small for the shade's slip ring. Since I was working with plastic and a carving bit, I made sure to take my time. The goal was to evenly bevel the plastic piece enough to allow the shade's slip ring to be secured. The carving bit did exactly what I needed it to do which was get a lot of the bulk plastic out of the way. I followed that up with a Dremel sandpaper bit to smooth out the plastic. Once all of the "trimming" was complete, I had no issue getting the lamp shade slip ring on the plastic piece. The shade is definetly secured now. The carving bit performed perfectly and is of the high quality that we all know comes with the Dremel brand.

The same outstanding quality you’ve come to expect from Dremel
The Dremel 115HP carving bit has the outstanding quality you’ve come to expect from Dremel. The 115HP carving bit is ideal for removing material with precision when you are carving, freehand routing, shaping, and hollowing. The 115HP carving bit can be used in a wide range of materials such as wood, plastic, and soft metals like aluminum, copper and brass. I’ve used other less expensive bits but I’ve discovered it’s worth the extra money for the quality Dremel offers.

      Great
These bits are really something you should definitely Add to your toolbox. They come in handy for so many different things . you can practically use them on everything wood, metal ,plastic. They’re great for for shaping or cutting away plastic in a dashboard on a car to add a switch or auxiliary item. I’ve used it to Rheem out a metal security door so that the lock fits better. Also too remove epoxy from a ceramic piece that I fixed. These come in handy just for about anything,
