Q:Can this be shortened? The dryer is on the right and so is the wall and outside vent. The duct opening on the dryer is center to slight right as well. Only need 18 inches.

Great duct for close quarters
This duct is exactly what I needed for cleaning up my dryer vent routing. I have close quarters behind the dryer and the duct exits through the ceiling. This duct extends to the length I needed and allowed exiting from behind the dryer at an angle. To allow for easier connection and maintenance, I attached it to the rear of the dryer using metal strapping and sheet metal screws. Not 5 stars because of workmanship. It is definitely usable, but be careful with sharp edges and make sure all seams are sealed with metal tape.

If it hadn't been for the straight connector on the top that I had to have for my particular installation I would have passed on this thing. Absolutely no attention to making sure the various parts fit together accurately. If you buy this, be sure to also get some good metal duct tape because you're going to need it to seal the huge gaps between parts and seams. Honestly, one of the most pathetic examples of sheet metal fabrication I've ever seen.

Large gaps, thin aluminum and poor construction. The box it comes it is better constructed and stronger then this duct. Something a 7th grader would build in sheet metal shop at school.

Works, but has gaps and seems...
It definitely worked for my purposes, but had to seal all the gaps and seems with foil tape. It's definitely a great idea, just poorly constructed and doesn't fit tightly together so it leaks. I had to tape all the seems and gaps, which I feel you shouldn't HAVE to do. If you don't mind that, then it might be worth the buy, like I said, it worked for what I needed it for despite that.

Dryer vent was easy to install. Love the extra space gained by removing the old, bulky round connector. Installed it myself and took advice from other reviewers to use heat resistant sealant and tape at the joints. Well forth the money.

I definitely recommend the foil tape there are lots of openings for dust to come out.

I didn’t exactly use it in the conventional manner. #1 laundry room dryer vent to outside is supposed to be for side by side washer dryer and I stack mine. #2 due to #1, the slant from the dryer to the outside vent needed to be at a slight diagonal instead of horizontal. #3 part of the hose behind the dryer had to be the conventional hose. Therefore, I used lots of hvac tape. But it worked, is sturdy and I can successfully store a tool cart under the table I built so I don’t have to go out to the shed every time I need a hammer, drill, etc. I’m happy, I’d use this product again. It would be cool, however, if it were a kit including flat elbows so it would accommodate our unique needs.
