About This Product

Duraflame Crackleflame Firelogs provide the ambiance of a crackling wood fire without the mess or hassle. Create a soothing fireside experience with this 4-pack case of crackling firelogs. They light fully with a single match in less than 5 minutes and each log burns for up to 3 hours. You can use this fire log indoors in an open-hearth fireplace or outdoors in your fire pit with confidence of a lasting burn and a warm, relaxing fire. Duraflame firelogs light faster and burn more completely than firewood and because far less material is consumed when burning a fire log, significantly fewer pollutants are emitted than a comparable wood fire. A Duraflame firelog consumes 80% less material than a comparable duration wood fire and burning fireplace logs instead of wood results in significantly fewer trees cut down for use as fire wood.

  • May be used in an indoor, open hearth fireplace or outdoor fireplace or fire pit
  • Fast lighting - lights fully within 5 minutes
  • Burns for up to 3 hours
  • Burns cleaner than wood - compared to a similar duration wood fire, a duraflame firelog emits 80% less fine particles, 75% less carbon monoxide, and 90% less hazardous air pollutants
  • Duraflame firelogs use recycled and renewable wood sawdust and agricultural fibers, saving valuable natural resources
  • UL approved safety classification for use in UL-listed factory built fireplaces
  • Not for use in airtight wood-heating stoves or inserts
  • Do not use for roasting marshmallows or other cooking

Q:Warning - Do not burn fire logs on top of other logs in a wood burning indoor fire place, ever. Especially don't try to move the burning fire log with tongs.

Answer This Question

A:  We don’t recommend adding wood to a Duraflame fire. When you add other materials to the firelog, it can change the characteristics of the burn. Duraflame firelogs are designed to burn one at a time with a controlled burn rate that burns the external surface area of the log slowly exposing more internal fuel as the log burns. Adding wood to a burning firelog can cause the log to break apart resulting in a sudden increased burn rate or flare up. If a flare-up like this occurs, flames can consume your fireplace creating more heat and smoke than your chimney is designed to exhaust, potentially resulting in unwanted smoke pouring out the front of your fireplace. Firelogs also contain twice the BTU energy content per pound of firewood, so burning firelogs with wood could create excessive heat that exceeds the specifications of your fireplace. Because of this and similar potential safety hazards, we don’t recommend adding wood, or any other materials, to a Duraflame firelog. We recommend you do not use pokers or tongs with a Duraflame firelog. Unlike firewood, firelogs are designed to burn in a controlled manner and do not require tending. Tongs or pokers can cause a firelog to break apart and expose more surface area to the air – increasing the burn rate and resulting in a shorter fire. When placed on a proper fireplace grate and left undisturbed, a 6-pound duraflame firelog will burn up to 4 hours.

Q:Can you use these in a wood burning stove?

          Answer This Question

A:  These firelogs are not approved for use in woodburning stoves because they require the open airflow of an open-hearth fireplace in order to burn properly and safely.

A:  We use in our fireplace, but don't know why not.

A:  Great question. I checked the Duraflame website. Not recommended for wood burning stoves. https://www.duraflame.com/safety-tips#product-safety

A:  That depends on several factors, are you also using your stove to cook on? Is it just for heating? These logs are are made from saw dust (roughly) and are pressed together with some sort of glue binder, in other words chemicals, s0 I would not use them if using it for cooking. For heating they should be ok, but again the flame from the logs are minimal after an hour or so, so the heat may also be minimal. Hope this helps

A:  Yes, but I used mine in an outdoor fire pit in my back yard.

A:  I'm very happy with my firepit.

                by|Nov 26, 2020

A:  Yes, we would use these logs instead of wood in our fireplace and make s'mores with the kids. They taste great and the logs burn for hours we even use it in our homemade firepit

                by|Nov 27, 2020

A:  No - I don’t think it’s a good idea. Not sure, but do think logs may have chemicals in them which helps logs to burn and crackle but not sure. You may want to check into this.

A:  We did in our outdoor fire pit. Waited a while for it to burn good along with regular wood. Everyone is still alive :-)

A:  No, we do not recommend cooking over Crackleflame firelogs. Our regular firelogs are not designed nor intended for use as a cooking fuel. Instead please try our OUTDOOR fireogs, specially formulated for roasting foods over, and they are also available online at The Home Depot.

                        Does Exactly What You Want
A cold snap hit the South and, not being familiar with the weather we were expecting, I wanted to get some logs to burn in the fireplace to keep warm. This log caught quickly and burned so hot that my living room was warm within 20 minutes. I don't know how much crackling it's supposed to do but it did make some noise which was nice. I was skeptical about buying these because it said they only run for 3 hours (opposed to 4 like many other brands) but this one is so warm that it's all I'm going to buy from now on.

Awful logs that smell and dont burn
Should have read the other reviews. The logs barely burn after lighting as directed. They then dont burn completely (see pic after 12 hours) and give off a chemical smell. Overall terrible product

They sent the oldest ones from shelves boxes had been wet and were falling apart, seemed like last year's boxes ,don't burn very good. For that cost I expected much better, new not torn old boxes from back of shelf.
