For improved air circulation in the attic, install the Durovent 22 in. x 48 in. Rafter Vent (10-Pack). It can be cut to fit most joist spaces and is an affordable way to meet energy-code requirements for air flow. Use it between rafters to create an air channel through insulation to help keep air flowing freely in your attic.
Improves insulation efficiencies, allows for cooler attics in the summer months, drier attics in the winter months and helps prevent ice-dam formation

Q:How do you measure attic space
by|May 21, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Do you mean how do you determine how many rafter vents you need to install in your attic? Sometimes it is easiest to count the openings between the trusses in your attic. Our 22-inch vents fit between a 24-inch on-center space. If you have 16-inch on-center openings, split our 22-inch vents in half. Staple the rafter vent to the roof decking.
A conventional attic will typically need only one or two vents per opening, depending on the depth of your insulation. The purpose of the vent is to channel air through the insulation. The vent should reach from above the top plate to a few inches above your insulation.

Worst than terrible
Toronto house. 10yrs old. This crap has melted, yes melted! Every baffle has melted closed at the soffit end. This stops all airflow. The attic becomes very hot. Need to replace every one. Don't know why they melt at the soffit end? A product designed to create airflow actually does the opposite!

Easy to instal if you know the tricks
People say it's to fragile and hard to work with. But that's just lack of understanding of how to install this stuff. A simple trick I use is to save old plastic milk jugs, cut them into 1 inch squares and staple through that into the durovent in the middle of the valley, and then staple a check at the top center of the valley. This holds it in place without tearing.
Add a second durovent below the first overlapping an inch, staple a check in the middle of that piece and then staple a check where the two overlap.
You don't need a hundred staples, you only need to add three staples max on each side. If you have a problem spot, staple a plastic check there.
Use a 4 foot metal ruler to cut the durovent sections with a box cutter long ways facing down on somthing like plywood. Make cross cuts with sharp large scissors.
When manuvering the panels into place grab the panels by the holes / divits, the holes are close enough together so that your hand can span two holes at once like a bolling ball, holding the panels this way prevents damage and makes it easier to position the panel.
3/8ths T50 staples are a good choice.

Absolute horrible. Flimsy, does not work if you have traditional 3 hole round “”bird blocks”. The middle of the plastic channel lands above the screen on the bird blocks. Defeating the purpose of allowing air to flow through the eaves and above blown in attic insulation. Had to return this product and buy the plastic channels

Response from ADO Product ExpertNov 10, 2022
Yes, this product is not made for bird block situations - it is for a traditional conventional attic because it attaches to the roof deck.
