Product Overview

The Dustopper makes tackling the messiest jobs a breeze while also keeping your wet/dry vacuum free of dust and debris. Dustopper’s specially designed chamber snaps onto any standard 5-Gal. bucket and collects more than 99% of dust and debris before it reaches your vacuum. This vacuum accessory keeps your filter clean and prevents the suction loss commonly caused by a clogged filter; now you can spend less time cleaning out your vacuum and filter and more time doing the work you love. With its low-profile design, the Dustopper makes efficient use of space, making it ideal for any job site, workshop, or wherever you may need it. It’s easy to set up and can be ready to go in under a minute, straight out of the box. No holes to drill, no screws to tighten and no sealants to apply. Simply remove Dustopper from its box, place it on a standard 5-Gal. bucket, and connect it to your shop vacuum with the hose and elbow provided. Disposal is as easy as lifting the Dustopper from its bucket and carrying the collected debris away.

Hello Ken, I bought my Dustopper a few months ago and had a few questions concerning the air flow. I called their Customer Service number and was contacted by Tom, the inventor of Dustopper. I would suggest you call them. Tom is very interested in hearing about problems with the Dustopper and I'm sure he will walk you through your problem and come up with a solution. Good Luck

Asked by Keen February 4, 2021

I have not noticed any leakage. If using a small shop vac, it might, but it seems that with my 6.5hp vacuum, the lid sucks down to the bucket. I am using a "Y" for two machines with no shut off valve between, and have plenty of airflow to keep the band saw and the spindle sander clean when using.

Can I order the 90(% elbow only I would need two ????

Asked by Juan January 26, 2021

Check the website, all accessories are listed.

Do you need the accessory adaptor kit to use this with the shop vac?

Asked by SuzyQ January 16, 2021

No it connects directly to the shop vac 2 1/2” hose. This does not include brushes or vacuum attachments

What is the internal body made out of? Is it completely plastic or are there metal components inside?

Asked by Donnie January 11, 2021

All plastic

Does it come with the bucket as well? Pics sho a bucket too?

Asked by Swapnil January 4, 2021

No, bucket sold separately.

Does this work well with drywall dust?

Asked by PAF November 8, 2020

This is the reason I bought the dust collector. It does help to extend your time that you can vacuum drywall dust before the filter needs to be cleaned. Not perfect but better than just using the vacuum alone.

Would a Bauer 14" shop vac be a good match with this?

Asked by schiff October 31, 2020

I am not familiar with the Bauer product. The kit contains a 36 inch hose to reach from the top of the cap to the intake port. If that distance on the Bauer exceeds 36 inches you will have to make modifications.

anyone know if this will filter out finer particles such as drywall dust or ash?

Asked by Joey October 2, 2020

It will probably get some of that stuff, but you want to prevent the really fine stuff from returning to the air. For that you should consider getting both a HEPA filter/bag combo that goes inside the vac.

How does it handle ash?

Asked by Stephen September 14, 2020

I found this on their website. Might be helpful to you. https://www.dustopper.com/best-practices-for-drywall-dust-and-other-fine-dust/

Great dirt & dust removal.
Does what it advertises. Removes almost all dirt & dust without using the shop vac filter.
by Vic Quickenden
Works very well except for it needs to have a second 90-degree elbow included in the package.

Just as good as advertised
I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but this product works really well, and I appreciate when other people write reviews. When I saw this product I was skeptical. How could a little piece of plastic keep the dust out of my shop vac. But I tried it and I'm so glad I did. I am amazed at how well it works. I have filled the bucket 3 times with MDF sawdust (really fine dust), and the vacuum canister is empty, and my filter is perfectly clean. I have no idea how it works, but it does. See the photos. The filter looks dirty because I've been using it in my vac for a while and only got the Dustopper recently.

Package incomplete
Buy something else, package should include two 90 degree adapter and longer hose. As far as efficiently, 4 star. But as is, 2 star...

Great Product
This well engineered product does a great job of capturing almost all the dust before it gets to the shop vac. I had a few questions and found the manufacturer's customer support to be top notch.

Perfect for woodworking saws, a must shop tool.
I use it for my mitre saw and other woodworking equipment. I works perfect with no problems!

Broke immediately!
I received the Dustopper as a Christmas present from my adult kids (it was at the top of my wish list). I finally had an opportunity to use it yesterday. It works great at trapping sawdust...BUT the housing cracked as I tried to reattach it to the Home Depot pail after emptying it for the first time. As a result, I think it no longer air tight and will not function to draw sawdust from my power tools and is now useless. I am so disappointed that this much needed piece of shop equipment broke on first usage!

Attractive design/price, but broke immediately.
Seems like a nice design, but the item broke before I could even use it - the plastic it is made from is very cheap, and it broke/snapped while attaching it to a HomeDepot 19L(5Gal) bucket. This of course means there won't be any suction, so it's garbage. Will return as soon as stores are open again!

Dust cyclone really works
Wow this really works and I don't expect to be buying new shop vac filters for a very long time. Since I was at Home depot I could get all the attachments for my vacuum to attach to the seperator and from seperator to my shop tools. The necessary attachments are not readily obvious but plumbing fittings worked for me. Binding the seperator to the vacuum makes it a nice package to move as one unit and minimized hoses running all over and tripping and tangling if it was two units on the floor. See you tube for how to do that. The unit easily sealed nicely to a random product bucket I already had.
