The Dustopper makes tackling the messiest jobs a breeze while also keeping your wet/dry vacuum free of dust and debris. Dustopper's specially designed chamber snaps onto any standard 5-Gal. bucket and collects more than 99% of dust and debris before it reaches your vacuum. This vacuum accessory keeps your filter clean and prevents the suction loss commonly caused by a clogged filter; now you can spend less time cleaning out your vacuum and filter and more time doing the work you love. With its low-profile design, the Dustopper makes efficient use of space, making it ideal for any job site, workshop, or wherever you may need it. It's easy to set up and can be ready to go in under a minute, straight out of the box. No holes to drill, no screws to tighten and no sealants to apply. Simply remove Dustopper from its box, place it on a standard 5-Gal. bucket, and connect it to your shop vacuum with the hose and elbow provided. Disposal is as easy as lifting the Dustopper from its bucket and carrying the collected debris away.
  • Extends filter life by collecting more than 99% debris before it enters your wet/dry vacuum

A:  Never measured the volume but I don't notice any major lose of suction. There is bound to be some loss. I would check your system or contact Dustopper.

A:  Hello Ken, I bought my Dustopper a few months ago and had a few questions concerning the air flow. I called their Customer Service number and was contacted by Tom, the inventor of Dustopper. I would suggest you call them. Tom is very interested in hearing about problems with the Dustopper and I'm sure he will walk you through your problem and come up with a solution. Good Luck

A:  I have the 16 gal 6.5 hp vac I bought the 32 ft 21/2” hose along with the dust collector. There doesn’t appear to be a drop in CFM , this vac has so much power that you can’t vacuum a carpet with it because the suction grabs the carpet and you can’t move the wand . I would check to make sure the lid is fastened correctly and it is hooked up correctly . The hose from the vacuum attaches to the top lid of the collector and other hose to the side. Also check that nothing is lodged in the top , plastic bags will shred and plug up the top .

      by|Feb 5, 2021

A:  yes, of course. and this is considered in the instructions stating a minimum size (hp) vac to be used.

      by|Feb 4, 2021

A:  You definitely lose some suction, but not that much for me. Maybe 25%

      Answer This Question

A:  I have noticed the seal is not very tight but I haven't noticed any dust coming from it. Perhaps a loss of suction, but that is it. It still works very well.

      by|Feb 4, 2021

A:  not all five gallon buckets are identical. find one that fits or add some duct tape around the inside edge of the bucket so the device will seal better

      by|Feb 4, 2021

A:  I bought the Home Depot 5 gal bucket , it works great. All 5 gallon buckets are not the same size.

      by|Feb 6, 2021

A:  I have not noticed any leakage. If using a small shop vac, it might, but it seems that with my 6.5hp vacuum, the lid sucks down to the bucket. I am using a "Y" for two machines with no shut off valve between, and have plenty of airflow to keep the band saw and the spindle sander clean when using.

      by|Mar 5, 2021

A:  No, have not noticed any leaking of bucket seal. In fact, using a 6.5 hp NXT Ridgid Shop Vac, there is suction the top can not be removed as it is drawn down so tightly. Maybe the bucket lip isn't positioned correctly for dustopper. I know buckets that originally had oil didn't quite fit dustopper right. Now I use the 'homer bucket.'

        Works better than advertised!
My old shop vac finally bit the dust (literally) and I ended up getting my replacement at Home Depot. I also noticed the Dustopper and thought it would be worth a try. I have a large dust separator I use with my planer but it is too bulky for small jobs. When I got home with everything, the Dustopper was missing both of the elbows that sere shown on the box. I called their number and they had the parts shipped to me within two days (great customer service!) The picture speaks for itself.

          Works great
This works very well for separating the the debris from the shop vac. I made a rolling stand from scrap wood.

Hey, the dust stopper works really well!
What can I say, it seems to do what it's supposed to do. I mounted it on top of my shop vac using a milk crate. I hope the photos make sense.

              Great dirt & dust removal.
Does what it advertises. Removes almost all dirt & dust without using the shop vac filter.

              Duststopper
Works very well except for it needs to have a second 90-degree elbow included in the package.

              Just as good as advertised
I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but this product works really well, and I appreciate when other people write reviews. When I saw this product I was skeptical. How could a little piece of plastic keep the dust out of my shop vac. But I tried it and I'm so glad I did. I am amazed at how well it works. I have filled the bucket 3 times with MDF sawdust (really fine dust), and the vacuum canister is empty, and my filter is perfectly clean. I have no idea how it works, but it does. See the photos. The filter looks dirty because I've been using it in my vac for a while and only got the Dustopper recently.

                Works okay, NOT $50 okay.
I purchased this product over a year ago because it was on sale. I am very satisfied with it but what I have discovered is how ridiculous the $50 dollar price tag is. The ONLY advantage to this product is it's low profile. If you do not need a low profile then there are MUCH BETTER products on the market that out perform this item AND COST LESS. If a competitor made a similar product and charged say $39.95 for it, they would give Dustopper a run for the money. I will never pay $50 for this.

                  Amazing results!
I'm doing a bathroom remodel. Have never removed tile/thinset before. It's a very dusty job, using a demolition/hammer drill, then a grinder/polisher to level/get rid of the rest. I discovered the Dustopper late in the project, and actually hesitated to buy it. But I did buy it, I did use it, and I can say this is an amazing product! I bought a HEPA filter for the wet/dry vac, but very little dust even made it that far. Don't hesitate or doubt it's efficacy. An amazing product, and well worth the cost! Minimizes mess and need for clean up. My mess was made prior to using the Dustopper. If I had incorporated the Dustopper from the beginning, the project, and my life/wife, would have been much easier.

A great idea But having issues.
The hose connections pop off the topper The entire thing on bucket falls over. Home Depot COULD also have mated this up with their currently unavailable model # 229554 Homer Bucket Dolly. I should not be left to complete the design.

This dust collector does well for what it is. I would like to have a unit that attaches to my shopvac and makes it easier to move both around as a unit but for the price it does what is asked of it. Definitely saves your bags/filters on drywall dust and cleanup.
