I ordered this heater on-line from Home Depot. At first it worked fine outdoors on my patio. I even fitted it with a sheet metal deflector on top to direct heat toward me instead of losing heat upward. Now to my periodic (too often) problem: I can light the pilot but, even after holding it on for awhile, it won't stay on when released. It's like the thermocouple isn't functioning. I've also thought the safety shutoff may be sticking. A couple of nights ago it worked fine until the tank ran out but, after connecting a full tank, it's back to the pilot problem again.

I just got mine, and I have the same problem. I can light the pilot but, even holding it for a while, it won't stay on when released.

Could this unit be mounted to a wall or floor?

Asked by: ktdid
Yes, but no. It can be mounted on the wall but you'll need to get a longer hose to hook up the propane tank . It can be mounted on the floor as simply as screwing the wheels down, lol. As long as you keep the same height you can easily substitute the wheels for floor mounts of almost any type. Keep in mind on wall mounting that the controls are on top, also the heater throws the heat only like 3 feet out and it goes up.. you want it as close to the floor as the wheels allow.. Now if dynaglo would fix the TC issue it's a fanatastic heater.

Are THESE HEATERS SAFE IN HOME

Asked by: BILL
Yes the heater is safe for limited indoor use but you MUST follow the instructions. This heater is CSA certified as a construction heater for indoor use only, and its intended purpose is primarily the temporary heating of buildings or structures under construction, alteration, or repair. It is best to have a well ventilated area and a home O2 sensor for safety.

Only one Caveat-- they kinda use propane fast on the High setting---but its not the units fault--its mine cause I LOVE the warm!.... If it was available, or convertible to NATURAL GAS it would be SOO COOL... no lugging 20lbs bottles.. cheaper operating costs...Natural??. Whatcha Think??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes the Chill off an Unheated Garage Bought the last one off the display shelf last winter and worried that it might not work when I got her home. I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to set up and it started right away. I have a 400 SqFt insulated, unattached garage. I use the heater when I am in the garage doing small projects and need to take the chill out of the air. It has three stages, at low heat it lights up the center panel, Med heat lights up two panels and at Hi Heat all three panels are glowing. Ill turn it on Hi heat for about 5 minutes then down to Lo after that to conserve fuel. I like that I can interchange the tank with the BBQ and that the tank is hidden behind the heater. It was light enough to lift it up into the crawl space so it could be stored out of the way during the summer. It's a nice little heater.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great little heater BUT.... Ok, I ordered it as an emergency backup heater, I bought a tank to see how long and and what setting to use. I read the reviews but while the customers said they use it in thei house, the manufacturer said not to. Well, the manufacturer was right. The fumes and odor while tolerable I guess in an emergency, it's not the right one for indoors in my opinion and YOU MUST crack a window at least 1 inch near the heater if possible. A single 20 gal. propane tank lasted 35 -40 hours on the "one" setting. with temp outside 30-32 or higher. I use it for the daylight hours (12 hours) and it heated up the whole house in about 90 m minutes. I didn't want to sleep with it on as the manufacturer warns. The "two" setting on this 18,000 BTU, in a closed house, was too much at that temp BUT guess at 1-25 degrees, you might use it to maintain the heat. On the "two" setting I'm guessing it would cut the 35-40 hours in half. Patio, deck, sunroom or tent it's perfect. I exchanged it for a "ventless" heater

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs well. No issues with pilot light. Turns on... Performs well. No issues with pilot light. Turns on turns off... Even though at 18,000BTU's it's rated at warming 600 sqft: It will do that eventually. It is more likely to make you comfortable with a shorter use period in 300 sqft. I'm just saying. 'don't expect a miraculously rapid comfort zone to occur in 600 sqft. It is a good heater. I like the fact that it has a compartment for my 20lb tank that makes it a simple roll around heater. I'm glad I bought it.

It rolls away easily into a closet until I need it, throws a lot of heat, and a bonus....it looks nice. Bought two so far, will buy a third one soon so all floors have emergency heat.My only complaints, I wish it had a battery powered fan instead of just radiant heat, and at full heat it uses a 20# propane tank in about twenty hours. So get a backup tank in case.

I've always had noisy 'tank top' heaters and they have a purpose, especially out in the rain. They are also responsible for burned holes in every jacket or coat I own! This is a nice little unit, with elements close to the floor that will warm your feet and whole body. Instant heat and warms up completely in a few minutes. 3 separate burners for low, med & high. 6, 12 & 18K, BTU. Silent running!!!!

Heats my living room to a nice comfortable temperature. Sometimes too warm!Keeps the furnace from kicking on and off. I have had this for 3 weeks now and I wish I would have purchased this heater earlier. There have been no issues with carbon monoxide at all. My sensor has never gone off as I was concerned it might.
