Yes you should be able to us the small tank on a short term bases.
We test our heaters at up to 5,000 ft. above sea level. We have had customers with success up to 8,000 ft. but we cannot comment on the performance or efficiency past 5,000 ft. -GHP
It will run on a 20# (bbq size) if the temps dont get below freezing. After that you need more cylinders hooked together or a larger cylinder/tank; ie, more surface area to create the gas from the liquid (LP). Note that a 30,000btu unit will go through a gallon (about 4.2#) in a bit more that 3 hours (figure 91,500 btu's per gal LP). The typical '20#' cylinder is filled short, only about 3.5 gal.,so you would run about 10.5 hours.

Parts and labor cost for conversion would exceed the cost of propane unit.
The directions say for a 30,000 BTU you have to have a minimum of 100 lb tank. This may be your problem
depends on your average outdoor temps and if the garage is insulated.
Should work with bracket in closed. The one I received worked fine.
I've only seen it in white. It depends on how you're using it. The infared works great but for my mobile home i"m finding that the blue flame one works better because of the moisture content here, Both have built in blowers (great option) and work great.'
yes, but you need to disable the low oxygen sensor at altitudes above 5000 ft.
