Is this heater safe for indoor use in a house?

Asked by: smp4502004
Yes, But because it is gas, make sure to vent the area to eliminate the possibility of any carbon monoxide build up or exposure. Open a window or door slightly for venting.

Can this heat a space to 130F? Is there a temp regulator to set the temperature?

Asked by: Paul
I think it would if the space is small. It does have adjustable heat output. It heats my large (four car) garage up to 75 then I set it to low and it maintains my temp. It's quite noisy on high heat.

50K - 200K BTU Propane Convection Heater is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for heating a garage Heats my 32x14 insulated shop from 30 to 80 degrees in less than 10 minutes. Down side is it is extremely loud when on full blast. Heats my 32x28 partially insulated garage from 30-50 degrees in about 30 minutes. Things I dislike are the lack of a thermostat control. Only has a lever that you adjust between pilot only and full on. Also, in the manual it tells you that you will need a 100lb tank, not sure if it needs to be that large, but I can say that when it is really cold a 20lb tank will freeze up in a hurry....could probably get by with a 40lb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME HEATER!!!! I am so glad I decided to buy this heater! I had been looking for a heater to warm up my 3 garage and I came across this one and thought I would give it a shot. I took my time and read all the reviews, So I knew what I was getting. There is very little assembly (takes just a Phillips, a 1/2" and 3/4" wrench). It is a little loud on high, But not loud enough to where you can't take it. I had it running on high for about 10 minutes and it took the chill out of the air and within 20 minutes I was running around my garage without a coat!!!! I turned it down to as low as I could get it and it maintained a nice cozy temp. I would recommend buying this if you are wanting to heat up a large area fast!!!! I hope this helped if you were debating on whether or not to get this....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Instant Heat and Extremely High Output Outstanding heater. Perfect execution. If you want instant heat and LOTS of it, look no further. This heater heats my 3 car garage in less than 5 minutes at full throttle. I'm not talking ceramic heater "I-can-feel-my-fingers-now" heat, I'm talking take your shirt off heat. Yes, it is loud at full throttle. This is not a con or a design flaw; this a simple convection forced-air commercial-grade heater. It DESTROYS cold. It's loud at full throttle because it's 200,000 BTU. To put that in perspective, the popular Duraheat Kerosene heaters put out 23,000 BTU which you can boil water on top of just fine. YOU WOULD NEED NEARLY 10 KEROSENE HEATERS ON FULL BLAST TO EQUAL 1 OF THESE. It's a beast and doesn't disappoint. On maximum, it sounds like a Jet engine and the top half of the metal body will glow red hot; I actually caught my rear end on fire once standing about a foot and a half from it... whoops! But it is exponentially quieter as you reduce the volume knob (on low you can talk at normal levels just fine). Take care what your placing it under; I have accidentally set off my fire alarm a couple of times because I have a heat sensor on the ceiling of my garage, and had this heater directly under it on high. You probably don't want it under your garage door motor full blast either... just use common sense. Our garage has 10' high sheetrock ceilings, which is fine for short periods of full throttle. This unit has a built in igniter and and the body collapses to half it's height for easy storage. When I first use it after being stored for the season, I usually end up lighting it manually and turning it on for at least several seconds to burn out any spider webs or crud. I've had and used this unit for 7 years now with NO problems. Usually after January/February, Home Depot puts these on clearance for about $39-69, so hold on to your receipt ;). I have many different heaters and now use the following procedure to heat my space: I start with this propane heater on high for about 5 minutes... then shut it off. Then use Kerosene heater to "maintain" the temperature as necessary. Propane is a LOT cheaper than kerosene. I get a tank exchange at my local homedepot for less than $20... Kerosene is currently $4.29/gallon here. When this heater is used in the described fashion, the propane lasts a LONG time considering what you get out of it. On a side note, I'm using my 1500-watt electric Holmes Quartz heater in place of the kerosene heaters when possible. Electricity is cheap and can be more econimical than burning kerosene (although you will typically have less BTUs). Here's a cost breakdown and comparison: --This propane heater... 1 20lb Propane tank (about $20) = about 1.5 hours on high @ 200,000 BTUs. Noise level is moderate to loud. Maintenance free. -- Duraheat DH2304 Kerosene heater... 1 gallon K1 kerosene (about 4.25-4.50/gal)= about 8 hours on high @ 23,000 BTUs. Noise level is completely silent. Requires yearly maintenance which can be a bother, and a bit messy (changed many wicks and ignitors over the years, and hands often end up smelling like kerosene for about a day after refueling). Can also release a bit of carbon monoxide when first lighting and after turning off. --Holmes hqh307 1500w Quartz tower heater... uses 1.5 KWH [Kilowatt Hour] (which costs about $0.0135/hr or $1.08 per 8 hours... when using the rate for my local electric utility which costs $0.09/kwh)= 1 hour on high @ 5,120 BTUs. Noise level of the fan is low. Maintenance free. Zero emissions. So to sum it all up, I love this Propane heater; It does what it's supposed to and does it well. Simple, efficient, effective design. Headache free and reliable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, even on small tank (does not last long at high setting). Good for taking chill off.... Works great, even on small tank (does not last long at high setting). Good for taking chill off. Only thing I don't like is the large pilot when unit lever is off, still a large amount of propane used for nothing. I shut tank off and easy restart turning tank back on with built in igniter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Louder on high than I thought could be, but even... Louder on high than I thought could be, but even heating a 40'x50'x14'insulated barn you turn it down after about 30 minutes to a low fire it is great. Coats off and working no problem. I noted one day that it raised the temp 30 degrees in 50 minutes. Plenty of heat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not bad priced for the unit. I got the heater and hooked it up as per instructions an it amazed me at the heat this heater put out. It has a pilot light so when I turn it off for a few moments it will light back easy. If you turn this unit on high it will work on a 30lb LP tank. It is very loud no more than the force air Kerosene blower heaters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need to Feel The Heat? Get one of these! I needed to warm up the shop where I'm doing some research, it's a cold metal building with little insulation 20'x14'. I dislike those turbo blast heaters, turn them on and you can't think and they are like a jet in full afterburners, no in-between. This is way different, 5 minutes on a 32F morning and the shop is warm, take off my coat and turn this down a little and the noise is reduced and I'm happy. Don't have the hot flashes and cold chills from the on off afterburner effect of a turbo heater. Easy to set up, worked first time and is very efficient. Dang good idea I had, you should do the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerhouse propane heater Highly recommended if you have a need for quick easy heat and a LOT of it. This thing sounds just like a regular propane space heater so I wasn't surprised at the noise but it's not bad at lower settings. I really don't see how you could ask for more in a portable heater. Home Depot delivers the goods with this one. I was surprised at the speed with which I received the heater. Good job Home Depot!
