This unit works great and the price was very reasonable. There is a loud click when the unit comes on or shuts off and the unit does not work with an external thermostat as the manufacturer states. My well insulated garage is 21x12 and 12 feet high and the unit is hung from the ceiling and I use a 30 amp on/off switch to turn the unit on and off. On a cold day heats up in about 30 minutes to t-shirt comfort with the unit on 5000 watts. I’ve never had to use the 7500 watt setting.

Great heater for the price
I can’t understand some of the negative reviews on this heater, personally I think people have their expectations set way too high and are working on a very limited budget for what they really want. This heater will not make your uninsulated leaky garage 70 degrees it’s just not happening. However if your garage is finished and insulated well this heater is more that adequate to do the job. I live in northern Illinois 5 miles from the Wisconsin border and we get some brutal winters. I have not had a chance to really test this heater but when the temps have dipped below 15 degrees this heater has no problem keeping my garage 70+. Granted my garage is finished and insulated very well. Without the heater on a 15 degree day my garage averages around 43 degrees. Within an hour of turning this heater on I’m pushing 70. Yes if it’s freezing and I open my garage doors it takes some time to heat back up but right now I’m more than happy with this unit right now.

Got new insulated Clopay garage doors for my three bay drywalled insulated garage but since garage had no source of heat, purchased the subject heater. Installed it myself running conduit with #8 wire as required. Have the internal thermostat set to keep the 800 sq ft space at 60 degrees which it has done with no problem. What it will do to my electric bill remains to be seen. We are going to have below zero temps tonight here in the Denver area so expect the heater to run pretty often. Will report again after I have had a few electric bills.
