Product Details

DynaTrap uses 3-way protection to attract and trap flying insects. It starts with a UV bulb that creates a warm light to attract many pest insects.

UV Bulb

DynaTrap technology utilizes multi-layer protection to defend your property against insect pests. First, the UV bulb generates warm light, which is highly attractive to many pest insects.

As a secondary lure, the trap uses a TiO2 titanium dioxide-coated surface that mimics human breath. Mosquitoes will instinctively follow this trail.

CO2 Trail

Next, an exclusive Ti02 titanium dioxide-coated surface, produces a CO2 trail that mimics human breath. Mosquitoes will instinctively follow it in search of a meal.

The final step in the process is a powerful, whisper quiet fan that sucks mosquitoes and other insects into the trap where they dehydrate and die.

Whisper-Quiet Fan

Once attracted to the unit, the powerful, whisper-quiet fan draws the insects and mosquitoes into the retaining cage where they dehydrate and die, typically within 24 hours.

Trapping insects doesn't have to be ugly! DynaTrap Insect Traps are specially designed to blend in with your existing décor.

Attractive Design

Not only can DynaTrap Insect Traps defend your property against bothersome pests, they look great while doing so! They are specially designed to blend in with your existing home décor.

This powerful trap offers up to a 1/2 acre of protection.

Coverage Area

The powerful all-weather trap is designed to provide protection up to 1/2 acre.

Place traps 20-40 feet away from high traffic areas, in between standing water and other insect breeding or resting areas.

Where to Place

To avoid attracting insects to where you spend time, place it approximately 20-40 ft away from where people will be sitting.

DynaTrap Insect Traps are easy to use. The trap requires no propane or expansive attractants. Simply plug it in.

Easy to Use

The trap requires no propane or additional attractants. Simply plug it into a standard 120V outlet and place it in between insect breeding areas and people areas.

Q:can you place it on the side of the house if the activity is in the back yard?

Answer This Question

A:  Ideally you would put it within a clear line of site from area you would like to treat. But since this thing is on all night long, it's likely that the pest insects in your backyard would have some interaction with adjacent areas. I think the strategy of this device is reduce the numbers, and so in that sense, it will certainly work on the side of the house. From my experience this device does seem to help, but it's just part of a layered solution, it alone is not going to entirely eliminate mosquitos in your back yard

by|Dec 6, 2022

A:  no the range is very low so need it where you are.  not very effective even then

    by|Dec 7, 2022

A:  We recommend that the trap be placed 20-40 feet away from people gathering areas. If the trap is around a corner, the house would act as an obstruction and may not attract mosquitoes and other insects located in the back yard.

        Answer This Question

A:  We do not recommend placing the trap closer than 20 feet away as you want to draw the mosquitoes away from people areas, not towards.

            Q:Can it be used indoor?
            by|Aug 31, 2021
            1 Answer
            Answer This Question

A:  The traps work the same; there are just a few features that differentiate them. The outdoor traps are weatherized whereas the indoor traps are not. Outdoor traps have a lid covering the fan and light housing protecting them from the weather. You are able to use an outdoor trap indoors but cannot use an indoor trap outdoors. None of our traps use pesticides or other harmful chemicals and they are all are odor free. This allows the traps to be used around your family and pets without any harm.

Mosquitoes are active and I had little luck catching any, especially the day-time biting tiger mosquitoes. I caught mostly gnats, moths and beetles. At the end of this review is an overview video I put together on the trap. The problem in my yard is not really your standard night-time mosquitoes but the tiger mosquitoes that bite during the day (the black ones with white stripes). With that, I run the trap mostly during the day. This also helps reduce the amount of moths I catch but after two weeks of running, when tiger mosquitos are biting me, I have not caught one. I even placed the trap in a shady corner of the yard that they love to inhabit. This is a fancier version of your standard 1/2 Dyna-Trap; it offers some style as opposed to their black traps, which is nice. The trap operates by running a fan that blows air over a special coated metal which creates CO2. The CO2 combined with UV light helps guide mosquitoes to your trap. Once close to the trap, the flying insect is sucked in and trapped in a bin until it dehydrates and dies. The technology is rather simple, it doesn't zap bugs and make a lot of noise. When you close the trap, it turns it off and keeps the bugs in the basket. The bulb lasts 3,000 hours or about every 4 months and needs to be replaced at that time in order to maintain optimal efficiency. Once a week, you have to empty the bin and once a month or so you clean the fan housing by removing a screw and cleaning with a provided brush. The trap should be run 24/7 to keep the mosquito population down. The trap has a 10 foot cord and comes with a cleaning brush and screw driver. This trap is made in China.

I am sorry to hear of the results! The trap should be run 24/7 to take care of the mosquito breeding cycle. When trapped, mosquitos will not keep their form like larger insects (moths) do. Caught mosquitos will often appear as a fine dust within the cage. We would love to learn more about your placement of the trap, please give us a call at 877-403-8727!

Mostly catches moths and other bugs. I have not seen too many mosquitos in the trap despite several bites. It uses a black light similar to the old bug zappers. The main difference is that instead of zapping bugs it uses a computer fan to suck the bugs in like a vacuum. When you go to dump the trap out, may of the bugs will still be alive and fly away. I received this DYNATRAP DECORA UV 1/2-ACRE TUNGSTEN INSECT AND MOSQUITO TRAP for free to write this review.

We appreciate your feedback. Mosquitoes will dehydrate and look like dust in the trap basket, making them difficult to identify. To help avoid getting bitten when emptying the trap, leave it turned off for up to 24 hours prior to emptying. Please give us a call at 877-403-8727 with any questions!

This was ordered online and shipped to my home without issue. This is a Insect trap and not like a traditional "bug zapper" as this uses a small fan in the base of the housing to suck in bugs that are attracted to the UV light and traps them in the base via the fan. To be clear, this will not kill bugs right away. I made the mistake of opening this after the first night after seeing a pretty good collection of bugs only to have them all instantly escape like some sort of horrifying piñata. Wait a couple of days before emptying to make sure they are dead, or at least take them away from your house and point it away from your face..... This trap is fairly easy to use. It comes with a length of chain so you can hang it where you'd like so it gives you some options there. The fan isn't silent, but it's not terribly noisy either. It does move a great deal of air but it does a pretty good job. I gave this 4 stars because of the fact that this will store live insects for however long it takes for them to die or for you to turn off the fan and for them to escape. And you'll want to think twice before shutting off and bring it inside. But other than that it's a solid product and it keeps the bugs away while in use.

I had my doubts as to whether this thing would actually attract mosquitos. Pretty much as soon as I hooked it up, the moths were all over it, and it still mostly catches small moths. But after a day or so, I noticed that it does take in a lot of mosquitos as well, which is what I'm mostly interested in. I should point out that I'm using this in Florida, where there are often tons of mosquitos year round. So far, I haven't really noticed a noticeable decline in the number of mosquito bites I'm getting around my house (on about 1/4 acre). But at least it's killing *some* of them off. The actual design is pretty cool--it's easy to remove the base to discard of the bugs, and you can turn it on and off by spinning the top part open or closed.

It does seem to work, I've had it up for a few weeks and it is catching bugs! One thing to know is several bugs will still be alive when you open it and will fly out. My friend has one and its made of all metal. This one isn't. This one is all plastic, and it feels kind of cheap. The switch to turn it off feels cheap as well so I wouldn't recommend turning it on and off all the time. But it does work, it does the job its designed to do. Just know that if it gets blown off its hook it will break.

Overall I have to say that I am happy with this mosquito trap. It is fairly lightweight and looks very nice. The body is made from plastic which is good because if it were made from bronze like it looks it would be rusting almost immediately once put outside. They didn't skimp on parts as the cord is very heavy duty and overall it seems engineered very well. I haven't had a great test of its mosquito catching ability yet, as it has still been very cold and the skeeters are not out in full force yet. FYI, there is a fan that operates in the unit so it does have a fair amount of noise coming from it.

This mosquito trap looks good and does a good job of trapping mosquitos and other flying pests. We have it located on our patio, away from the table and we haven’t been bothered by bugs while sitting outside. The fan is relatively quiet with just a low hum. The light is not to distracting at night although there is a blue UV glow coming from the trap. Emptying the trap is easy as the bottom trap part just comes off. The unit can easily be turned on or off by moving the top part. It comes with a chain and there’s a loop on the top of the trap to hang it from above. The cord is long enough to hang it up and reach an outlet without an extension cord. I really like that this trap is just that, a trap. It does not zap the bugs or kill them right away. I was checking the progress of the trap and I unknowingly let some bugs escape. I now know to look through the screen to check for survivors before opening the bottom. Overall, I am happy with this trap and look forward to seeing what it can do later in the year when we have a lot more bugs.

The Dynatrap Decore UV Tungsten Insect Trap is a very efficient way to control the insects on my back deck. I leave the device on continuously as the instructions state. The purple light seems to attract the insects best during the night. The unit produces CO2, which attracts mosquito's to it as well. When the insects get near the unit the get sucked into a container where there is no escape. The eventually die from evaporation. I empty the container when I notice a layer of dead insects. The unit comes with complete instructions. It also has a small brush for cleaning, a screwdriver for removing screws to access the fan and a chain to hang the unit with. Seems durable. It quiet and does not require chemicals to work. I am very happy with the unit.

Great Trap that doesn't ZAP and is quiet. The DynaTrap UV Mosquito Trap is a welcome addition to our yard. It looks great and is easy to set up. I hung my Dynatrap on a plant hook near my porch to see what it would do. Mosquito season hasn't hit us yet, but this trap works well on moths and other bugs as well. The light at night is not overwhelming as some other bug zapper are. The blue light serves as the attraction for the bugs and the fan does the rest. After 1 night, I could see the results. I've had it plugged in for several days and can see visible results in the basket that the fan draws the bugs into. It's been rained on and I haven't noticed any reduction in the ability to attract bugs. Overall, I am pleased with this insect trap.

This is an interesting concept for a trap. The blue light and carbon dioxide (?!) are supposed to attract bugs which should get trapped by the bottom fan. It's powered via a chord, which feels a bit dated given the abundance of solar/battery powered products on the market. The fan is not too noisy but is nonetheless noticeable.Does it work? I'm not too sure. After a few nights outside, all we got was a fly in spite of having hordes of mosquitoes in the area. It's a big object, not too aesthetically pleasing. The product would also benefit from having an ON/OFF switch.
