I tried this spring on a 7' door - first I went over a few details and also needed to make sure of a couple of items. Make sure to measure the existing spring and match the spring if possible look up the model of the current existing door requirements Determine what spring you need Set up your door to be fully lifted and then secure in place to take the load off of the spring Remove the spring and hook up the new spring - I found a slightly stronger spring with a garage door opener reduced the stress on the motor - checking the draw was reduced Make sure the new spring is secured so that it wont accidently disconnect - this can be catastrophic Make sure you have someone to help you Determine if you need a single or 2 springs (1 or 2 car doors)

This 36 inch clip end spring is for heavier garage doors and is definitely a heavy duty spring. The springs are also fairly heavy in weight as well which I wasn't expecting. The spring came without any installation instructions which I found very strange and is the only real reason I gave 4 stars out of the five. I was able to pull up instructions on this website though so not that big of a deal. My husband was able to get this and another spring installed without very much trouble and it is working great. You will need a c hook if you are installing just the one spring and a w hood for two like we did. We went ahead as recommended and replaced both springs at the same time to ensure they worked best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This spring was the perfect item for the job. I ordered several different springs for a trailer that I was retrofitting as a gear trailer and mobile camp kitchen for a Boy Scout troop. I needed springs to operate a full-size rear door, as well as awnings, storage, stove, and sink compartments built into the side of the trailer. These worked perfectly, and we now have the coolest campsite of them all! Roll in, unhook the trailer, offload the gear. Boys set up camp, while the adults open up the kitchen for the weekend.

Ok, what more can I say than it fit well, worked well, much better than the old ones, very quite, just felt like good steel. Now until they are used for a long period of time, won't know if the ends and spring strength will hold up. I don't see any reason not to say there better than the original. Just like if you have ever done drum brakes on your car, the return spring that still work, but not as well and as smooth. you should replace them every brake job , well you should with garage doors too.

I used as a replacement for some worn out and noisy springs. These are 36 inch springs and are much heavier duty than the ones I replaced. They are also much quieter and stronger. Please use some caution while undoing the originals and installing these while they are under tension. With a little care and caution, installation should be a breeze. While help isn't mandatory, it's always a good idea.

Just what was needed for the job Length over coils is 36" and Maximum allowable stretch is 24.5" and 350 pound capacity Propped the garage door open to the maximum to make the most slack possible... Held the garage door open with a ladder with some wooden blocks on top to adjust and fine tune the lift height. Threw some of my body weight at the bottom of the spring and made the connection and now the garage door is back in business again

Proper tools made install simple and proper tension. Seems strong enough and well manufactured to last. We also needed to replace wire cables as they were worn at the bends and frayed around pulleys. They were installed on old wooden eight by seven foot doors with windows across the top and stiffeners mid line and lower panel. Balanced well.
