Questions & Answers

I have a two spring garage door. It uses P928C. Will a P928 work for a replacement for one spring?

Answer This Question

Yes. "C" only means it comes with the hook; you can buy the hooks separately or reuse the one from the one you took off if it still works.

I replaced my garage door spring. It is the same size as the other spring and installed exactly the same way. However, my garage door won't stay open and closes on its own. Is it possible I need a stronger spring? It's a P928 spring.

    Answer This Question

It's possible that you need a stronger spring, or there might be other issues at play. While the P928 spring is designed for lighter garage doors (up to 75 lbs. for two springs), if your door is heavier than that, you'll definitely need a stronger spring. Even if your door is within the weight limit, a worn-out or damaged second spring could be contributing to the problem. I'd recommend checking the other spring for any signs of wear or damage. It's also important to make sure the springs are properly balanced. If one spring is doing more work than the other, it can cause the door to close unevenly. Finally, there could be issues with your garage door opener or other hardware. If you're unsure, it's always best to consult a professional garage door technician.

These springs are fairly simple to install and adjust and come with easy to understand instructions.. They are made in such a way that they can be used as a hook, clip or plug end spring. I used these on a 110 pound one piece steel door and they worked great. They have a one year warranty but I can't,There is an internal end to end safety cable to keep them place in the unlikely chance it should break.
