The rats did not eat it.

I used this product in an outside trap. The first week all of the pellets were consumed. I dont see Rat droppings in my patio anymore. I rebaited the trap with fresh product and after two weeks most of the pellets are still there. I assume most of the rats are gone. I'm happy with the results.

This worked well for getting rid of a rat that had taken up residence under the hood of a car that an electronic zapper rat trap wasn’t catching for some reason. I found a small 2” round plastic container and filled it with the bait pellets and placed it in the engine bay close to where the rat had built its nest. A couple of days later, I checked and could see that some of the bait had been scattered around and was showing signs of having been gnawed on. It seems like it also killed the rat since as far as I can tell, it is no longer in the engine bay (it was normally casually climbing around every time I opened the hood), so I assume it has wandered off and died somewhere. I plan to leave the bait container under the hood of the car even though the rat appears to have left so I can get the next one that comes along. I also put some bait in an area of a shed where I could see a rat had been holed up for the winter, and similarly, some of the bait has gone and there are no more droppings on the shed floor. The bait has to be measured out and left in a dry area for the mice or rats to feed on. It takes about ½-2 oz of bait for a rat and 1/3 to ½ oz for a mouse according to the instructions. If the rodents have a burrow, you can make bait packs by wrapping the RatX pellets in plastic kitchen wrap and poking them down the burrow holes with a stick. I suspect it may also work on other rodents like ground squirrels and plan to give this a try. The good news is that you can use this around livestock and poultry as it is a naturally derived poison that seems to be based largely on corn gluten meal along with maltodextrin, sorbitol and wheat flour. This is important to us since we live in the country and have barn owls, red tailed hawks and gopher snakes that will take mice and rats, so if the rodent is preyed upon by another predator, it won’t kill the predator. That being said, the instructions recommend using gloves for safe handling and also keeping pet rodents well away from the bait. I couldn’t see any ‘use by’ or ‘best before’ dates printed on the packaging, so it looks like it has an indefinite shelf life provided you store it in a cool, dry place.

Hate to admit that we occasionally have an invasion by a rat or two. But I have always had to be very careful with baits, since most are dangerous to children and pets. This product Rat-X is a safe non-toxic bait that can be used all around the house. It is a 100% natural food source for rats in particular. It is in pellet form which makes for easy use in holes (burrows), and around the outside of the house (or other structures) and in bait trays or bait boxes. It kills by dehydration which usually causes the rat to return to its burrow where it will die. I am proud that now I can depend on a child and pet safe solution to pesky rats.

I have tried various types of rodent control over the years, trying to get rid of mice, rats and chipmunks. Most traps are ineffective and most baits do not really let you know if they are effective because the animal will move to another location to die and I may, or may not, actually smell the decaying carcass, so there may be no way of knowing, but I have always had greater effect/less rodents, after using bait traps. I like that this product gives me the ability to refill existing bait traps, as well as create some of my own, from paper plates/bowls.I am also pouring some of the pellets into chipmunk holes. This is a naturally derived product, meaning it is corn meal gluten, which swells in the gut of the rodent, and kills them . There is also a small amount of sodium chloride to expedite death. I expect good results, will add to this review if anything changes

I've successfully used this product in the past and was looking to deter pests outside our house. In researching other products, they have potential secondary kill issue. This product is designed to cause the rodent to retreat to its' burrow where bodily systems shut down. There doesn't appear to be an issue with secondary kill to your, or your neighbor's, pets. It can take a few days to work. First, the rodent has to "find" the food, then the ingredients take a few days to fully work.

Do not purchase! What a waste of money! Its been 1 week now and still the Rats & Mice have not touched, I used all of the pellets and place in the crevices of the large rocks I have in the back yard, they keep coming! None have died so far.Very disappointed with this product.

No stars. Put a nice big container of this stuff under our house because we could hear a rat scratching around the walls. The container is now 1/2 gone a month or two later. We still hear the rat which has invited friends as well and they have decided to move on to the wiring under the hood of our vehicles now. The poison is still there but it doesnt do a thing. We used to be able to get the green d-con both in pellets and cubes. THOSE worked !!!!! We would find dead rats everywhere. Here in LA we have a rat problem due to an overcrowded population and a massive homeless problem which draws the rats. Please, someone come up with something that actuall kills rats and not just feed them. If i could starve them that would be great but they go after everything else

My customers are still experiencing problems with mice so I went back to Home depot and buy the mice packets call Tom cat place pacs to give to my customers those works much better.
