Product Overview

Autumn Sangria Encore Azalea offers vibrant year-round color to any garden. Autumn Sangria has one of the largest blooms in the Encore Azalea collection. With its especially dense growth habit and dark pink and green color combination, Autumn Sangria is well suited as a specimen or a foundation planting. Unlike many traditional azaleas, Encore azaleas bloom best in full sun, so choose an area of your yard where they can receive at least 4-6 hours of sunlight. Autumn Sangria works well in foundation plantings or as a low growing hedge. Be sure to plant your Encore Azaleas in acidic to slightly acidic soil to maximize your bloom yield. Fertilize in the spring with a balanced fertilizer after the threat of the last frost has dissipated and feed once more in the summer to help you Encore bloom through fall. Encore Azalea is the world's best-selling multi-season blooming azalea. In many areas of the country, Encore Azalea bloom during 3 seasons of the year-spring, summer, and fall. And, for areas of the country where azaleas don't traditionally thrive, such as those in USDA hardiness Zone 6 and 7, you will see a spring or summer bloom, but not a fall bloom before your temperatures drop.
  • Autumn Sangria's flowers are dark pink, single form and 3.5 inches across
  • Cold hardy to USDA Zone 6A. Hardy in USDA Zones 6A-10
  • Best selling re-blooming azalea
  • Attracts butterflies
  • Can be grown in full sun to partial shade, needs 4-6 hours of sunlight
  • Plant in bulk for a low growing hedge, or plant a single plant for colorful accent or specimen
  • Can be grown in containers for patios, decks and entryways

  • Very low maintenance plant once established

Answer

They are currently ~18 inches tall and 15 inches wide

how tall does this grow? Is this what we call Formosa azalera, grows wide and up to 5ft tall?

Answer

This is not the Formosa Azalea. It gets about 4.5 feet high.

These plants arrived quickly and looked great upon arrival. The foliage is beautiful and there's only a few blooms here and there so far but they are a wonderful color and we look forward to seeing them in full bloom!

My plant was shipped very quick, but I was unhappy to see it was root bound in the pot. I had to really break all around the plant root before planting. It may live, but I doubt if it will because of the trauma to the root system will send it into shock. I hope it has a chance to root before the hard freeze this winter.
