A: Hi Ashlee. If the post greater than 2.75" in width it most likely will work the EZ Handrail system. Fiberon makes quality products, so I would venture to say the load codes will be in compliance as long as the correct bracket fasteners for post material
A: I would use epoxy in type and risk concrete "blow-out" with expansion bolts
A: Hi Gloria. Unfortunately, I (Madden Manufacturing - EZ Handrail) cannot endorse installing our EZ Posts on a 5.5" concrete curb. The mounting plate is 5"x5" with the fastener holes located at 4"x4" (OC - on center). This would only allow .75" of edge distance, which is not enough to safeguard against blowouts and would also not achieve fastener embedment strength. With that said, there are two possible non-endorsed scenarios to explore: 1. IF YOU DO NOT NEED TO MEET IBC LOAD REQUIREMENTS OF 200 LBS OF CONCENTRATED OUTWARD PRESSURE AND 50 LBS PER FT. You could attempt 1/4" x 2" or 3" Tapcons with a 3/16" x 4" hole. Tapcons are a sharp masonry fastener and cause the least hole pressure that I am aware of. In addition, I would add Gorilla Heavy Duty Construction Adhesive on the bottom of the plates as well as on the fasteners. In this scenario you could also drill new fastener holes in the aluminum plate at 3" OC to gain more concrete edge distance. Again, I can stress enough this does not meet code. DHall. 2. Have an local weld shop fab C-Style "straddle" bases for the 3x3" EZ Posts. This scenario would meet code if welded properly with 6065 T6 1/4" aluminum plate (very common and is the same as alloy as our EZ Posts). I can offer you the 3x3 square tube in mill (unpainted) if necessary. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to start a dialog. These are always my least favorite answers to write, because we work hard to manufacturer simple solutions, but blown out concrete edges or worse - guardrail/post failure would be far worse. Thank you for your question. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: I ordered 38" tall...You can also order 44" tall
A: 38" for top-mount over decking suitable for the EZ Handrail 36" sections. They do sell other sizes.
A: Hi Ana. I agree 100% that this imposed naming standard is very confusing for this type of product. The answer is this is a 38" tall post and works with all the 36" tall EZ Handrail Kits - (1" baluster, glass baluster and glass panels). Thank you for the great question, I'm sure it will help many in future. Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: The actual height is 38 inches.
A: Hi Grumps. Yes, the post is easily cut down to virtually any height with a WOOD cutting blade on a chop or circular saw and the included cap hides the cut edge (as you suggest). This is quite common. Thank you for your question, Dan H. (EZ Handrail Dev. Team)
A: YES YES YES
A: Yes - just cut reasonably straight.
A: Yes, you can cut it but please make sure you measure it twice before you do. Nothing like messing up costing you more money in having to buy another one.
