Product Overview
EZ Tube is a patented precast concrete footing system, consisting of a base section, 1 or more upper sections and a threaded rod anchor to secure it into a single, solid pier-type footing. EZ Tube 5 includes 1 each. 100 lbs. base section, 4 each. 60 lbs. upper sections, and 1 each. 5 ft. anchor rod. Ideal for use in areas where hole depth for footing is 4 ft.

I purchased 10 EZ tube pre-cast footing piers as a base for a large shed in a wet location that intersects the water table. The concrete parts of the system were delivered to my local Home Depot store within 1 week. Unfortunately, the galvanized rod that goes in the center and holds the system together was not to be found. It took a bit more than 2-weeks, but after having Home Depot contact the EZ crete company directly, I was able to begin a conversation with the EZ Crete folks and the rods were delivered directly to my home in just 2 days.
Installation took a try to learn what are the best options to install. The bases are roughly 22 inches in diameter, thus a hole 2 foot wide will allow the base to be set but leaves no room to level or apply the construction sealant/adhesive. I did not try a post hole digger as the soil in addition to being wet, contains many rocks and the occasional granite boulder. (As above, a massive post hole would need drilled to accommodate installation. I dug a trench for the first 3 piers. That worked OK but left me a little less adjustment room than I'd prefer. Next, I used my backhoe to dig a 4 foot x 4 foot x 4 foot hole. This is quite a bit of dirt but worked very well for the other piers This provided ample room to place the post, adjust for plumb and stand in the hole to apply sealant and place the upper sections. The post was then backfilled, machine and hand tamped. It is now providing a solid level base for my 27 foot x 16 foot elevated shed.

This is really a great solution for diy projects. If you don't have a machine to move solid piers, which could weigh an enormous amount, this is a great solution. Setting them up to be level and plumb was really not a hard task. As we were dealing with a bit of water, we layered the foundation with crusher stone. We started by setting the base for each footing and thereafter followed with the 4 sections atop each of those.

Fantastic product. I had to dig under an existing porch to put new footings in. This was a life saver! I added 2 piers, one that required 6 blocks plus the base, the other was 5 blocks plus the footer. So I simply ordered 3 sets. This gave me one extra base and one extra top section. No big deal.
Digging under a pre-existing porch was a pain! But putting these stackable piers in was a breeze!! Thank you EZ-Create!
I miss judged the depth on one by 6". I was very disappointed in my measuring skills. I did not realize it until I put the "final" block in. I had already filled in most of the hole (under the porch). What to do? I got a concrete blade for my circular saw and cut the left over section in half. The blade did not go clean through of course, so after cutting all the way around, I used an old chisel and gently tapped it into the cut until the two halves split. Then I used my circular saw and a grinding wheel to carve out the bottom so that it would fit over the top of the shaped block in the ground (see the picture of the blocks). My last step was to get a small caulking tube of construction glue and put the entire tube on top of the block in the ground. My carved out block fit right over it and is now permanently glued to the block below. Same as all of the blocks, but because I was modifying this block I wanted much more glue than the rest had.
I had to buy threaded 1/2" rod and couplings to add the additional blocks. No bid deal. I also put a bag of gravel under the base on each one.
My porch has been settled onto the new piers for 6+ weeks now and it all looks great!

It wasn’t that bad to set up but the holes...
It wasn’t that bad to set up but the holes have to be dug about 52 inches to use all 4 smaller columns to make the fit because gravel has to be used on the main base that’s 22 inches. Other than that it was slick to use and not waiting for concrete to cure!

Easy to assemble, once the hole is dug and...
Easy to assemble, once the hole is dug and gravel tamped. These take at least two people as they are heavy and bulky. It is easy to adjust to perfect alignment Then the hole need back filling and tamping. We used because no power or access road.

EZ to use
Using EZ Tube was so much easier than mixing cement. It was more expensive to be sure...but I thought the convenience was worth the price.
