Q:The trimming head appears to have a safety bar/switch which would require two hands at the cutting end in order to engage the trimmer. Is it disabled when the pole is attached?

Answer This Question
A:Â Yes, it is disabled with the pole attached.
Without the pole, there are 2 safety switches, you have to hold the green bar to the handle, press a button on the side, and pull the trigger to operate, meaning you have to hold the trimmer with 2 hands at all times, so trying to reach out a few feet while holding the trimmer with one hand is impossible, unless you defeat the green bar mechanism, which is fairly easily done.
Also, with the pole attached, this thing is top-heavy, more so when it is extended.
I highly recommend not using a ladder while using this with the pole attached, I've come very close to falling off due to the weight.
Overall, I really like the versatility, but wish they would find a way to put more weight in the handle side and less on the trimmer side, sort of like the ryobi expand-it concept, where the motor is on the handle side and a flexible shaft runs inside to drive the accessory.

I purchased this trimmer in March. The first several times it worked great, as expected. I thought I solved my extended reach problems with this tool. Then, I started noticing that it would lose power and shut down when I lifted it above horizontal level. It would start again when I lowered it back. Figured it had to be a short. Opened the handle case and sure enough found a pinched wire that had been squeezed between the two plastic halves during manufacture. Fixed that but still have an issue.
Assuming now that it is either an issue where the metal connectors or there is a separation in the wires covered by heat shrunk wire covers.
If I can't get this one fixed I'll look at another brand to replace. Needless to say, I don't recommend.

Shrubbery Trimmer
Used this last week for some shrubbery trimming and it worked great. Didn't need to use my step ladder this time. The only drawback is when using the extension it can be a little on the heavy side. It'll give you a workout. Otherwise it is a great product.

Not a long-lasting product
Lasted for about 3 to 4 yrs, I used one day a yr. The blades lost traction and couldn't cut anything except small leaf stems. I took it apart, cleaned and oiled it. But there was a mechanical fault in the gearing, I trashed it.
In comparison I have a small Sears 15 inch from the 90 s and it's still runs.

Worked good but didn't last
Used it twice to trim my cedar hedge annually, cut fairly well, then the motor brushes wore out and cooked the motor, so I put it in the garbage.

This tool works very well. No issues. I also have the attachable chainsaw Which also works very well. You can use both tools with or without the attachable pole.

I really like the Hedge clipper 2 + 1 on a pool. It does the job. Can reach areas I was never able to reach before. The only problem I have is it's very heavy to handle on the pole. I am in my sixties so maybe a younger person may be able to handle it better. But all in all I think it's a very good trimmer.
