Q:I want to replace my RV hot water tank with this one, will it do the job? also will this heat 40 ...

Answer This Question

A:  No. Not 12vdc. No source stated by manufacturers. Not UL approved. Illegal sale join USA.

by|Dec 8, 2021

A:  It needs enough flow to activate the heater. Then delivers plenty. My water is sixty degrees and I have the propane knob at a low setting and 140 is the lowest temperature I can hit. You might want a small tank for an RV since this unit requires a continuous flow of water to be useful.

    by|Apr 22, 2021

A:  Hello there! Yes, the FVi-12LP water heater can be used in an RV, just make sure that it is not going to be used when the RV is moving and please follow proper installation for it with proper clearances and proper ventilation. WIth the incoming temperatures being that low, you're going to need to restrict the water flow more during colder temps to achieve higher temperatures like that.Kindly refer to the manual for further information about installation. A:  Hello Vanessa. Sorry to learn of the leaking issue on your Eccotemp FVI12. For assessment please reach out to our technical support team via live chat, setting up a call, or creating a support ticket at support.eccotemp.com. We'd be happy to help!

          by|Mar 24, 2020

A:  Vanessa - I would need more information as to whether the unit itself is leaking or whether it's leaking from the two water fittings connected to the unit. If it is the latter, make sure you have used Teflon tape on the screw thread for the water fittings into the unit and that they are tight enough. If the unit itself is leaking, you will have to contact Eccotemp for warranty service.

            by|Mar 24, 2020

A:  I don't have this issue with mine, which is installed outdoors on the side of my barn. When the weather gets near or below freezing, I drain the water from the tank to prevent it from damaging the heater. If yours is an indoor installation, then freezing is probably not likely to be an issue, so there are two other possible causes of the leaking that I can think of: 1)The plumbing fittings were not installed properly (either without plumber's tape or not tight enough) or 2)The unit is defective and has developed a leak. If it was installed outside and allowed to freeze, then it's possible that the system has been damaged by freezing.

A:  I've had a battery heater for three years now and had to change the two D cells about once a year. But from experience I would recommend one with a digital thermostat.

                by|Mar 16, 2020

A:  Hello Scott. It does drain battery each time the heater is running. It's being used during ignition and for holding the gas solenoid open to keep the gas flowing to the burner. Depending on each use, the battery could last for a maximum of 2 months. Water heater performs as advertised. It is very finicky on temperature & requires constant monitoring/adjustments. Was able to adapt to existing 3” flue using exhaust adapters; Nickson from O’Reilley; 3” I.D. X 2-1/2” O.D. and 2-1/2” I.D. X 3”O.D. Put inside each other, hammer & cut to length. Stainless elbow included (with damper) fits inside adapters & it fits inside 3” vent pipe.

Bought this unit 9/22/15 its now 1/7/17. It was minus 15 degrees this morning outside and +70 inside the room the unit was installed, the cold air came down through the exhaust vent and froze the upper coils and split them, flooding occured, no warranty on unit through Home depot because I didnt use a Home Depot credit card. Now I have to try to find my warranty and try to contact the manufacturer. Very disappointed with Home Depot. I've spent $10-20k with home depot over the last couple years. To be treated like this is infuriating. To warranty a product does not just protect the product it protects the company who sells the product from losing valuable business. ARE YOU TAKING NOTE HOME DEPOT!!!!!!!

The Eccotemp FVi12 has manual temperature controls, meaning the temperature must be set and regulated from the front control panel of the water heater and not your sink or shower. Works very well install was pretty straight forward. Works perfectly off a 20lb propane tank. I have only had it in for a few weeks but so far no complaints, other than dialing in the gas flow and water temp dials can be a little hit or miss. Does exactly what it is supposed to do!
