Is this the same as the Whirlpool Dual-Stage filter system? The filters look the same.
    ByNov 7, 2022
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

The EcoPure and Whirlpool filters do share a similar design, but should only be used in their respective systems due to threading patterns and filtration claims.

Will Ecopure ECOP20 system, replace a Whirlpool WHED20 (without changing out yellow and blue 3/8" lines)? Will system use WHEEDF5 filters (I have extra)?

The ECOP20 does use 3/8" diameter lines. We recommend using only the ECODWF filters intended for this system.

            Answer This Question

You will need flat-head and Phillips screwdrivers, pliers, an adjustable wrench, and a tool for cutting tubing. If a mounting hole needs to be made for the faucet, you will also need a drill and 1-1/4" drill bit.

                Answer This Question

This is dependent on the quantity and quality of water passing through the system. On average the filters should be replaced every six months.

                By|May 5, 2023

That I do not know. A light comes on at the base every 6 months, then you replace the filters.

I bought this to replace a system for which filters are no longer available. This new system is more compact. Installation was straightforward. The results are great: my water tastes great!

                    Very poor performance
We bought this unit in October 2024 for our new home. Due to delays we didn’t move in until January 2025. We are on municipal water had the unit installed in late March. In April the cartridge needed to be replacement as the water flow was reduced to a trickle(see pictures). The cartridges are over $50 each at Home Depot. We are not going to spend over $100 every 1-2 months. We can’t return it so we are just going to toss this piece of junk in the trash. I definitely do not recommend this product.

I am disappointed with this counter top water filter system. I hesitated to select this product to install and review for Home Depot because I already had a good two year old (P) brand counter top water Filter.. Conveniently my unit was currently due for new filters which I replaced every six month. I was hoping this installation would save me that cost and maybe allow the use of the basic parts of my existing unit. No luck, everything was completely different. The design is nice as for appearances, but the design as for construction everything is plastic. After about six hours I'm left going to Home depot to buy replacement parts to complete my installation. The wing nuts to hold plastic battery case bent, the T coupler to connect water supply striped, not to mention the plastic battery case that holds wing nuts and everything else together broke. I'm sorry but this unit, once installed and reviewed, will find it way back into it's box for storage.

The Ecopure under the sink water filter contains activated carbon for taste and odor. All the parts needed to install it are included. You install the water supply fitting between the shutoff valve and the cold water supply line under the sink. You connect the color coded tubing to the color coding fittings, filters and faucet. You can remove the tubing easily by pushing in on the colored insert if you need to remove it. You have to drill a hole for the faucet. The instructions are straight forward and easy to understand. The filters last 6 months and have a light that comes on to remind you and the battery is even included. I live 100 miles from the water plant and there is a lot of sediment in my water. In my case I have two 10 micron string wound sediment water filters in 2 whole house filters prior to this filter to remove sediment and prevent early clogging.

This filter is easy to install and upon first test it seems to work great. As our house is on a well with great tasting water I usually wouldn’t consider buying a filter. However, like many RV owners, we fill our RV tanks from many locations while traveling and use water at many campgrounds. Some of this water is great and some of it not so much. Additionally the water systems in our RVs and hoses that we use can add an unpleasant plastic taste to the water, especially when the RV hose sits in the sun with water in it. Hopefully my experience installing this in an RV will help out fellow RV owners as well. Though install will be very similar for both home and RV use. Install - I elected to install this water filter under the sink in our RV, using a hole in the sink deck to mount the faucet. Install was very easy in my case. Normally, a newer RV faucet uses PEX directly to a ½” FIP fitting connected directly to the faucet, but I had recently added PEX to 3/8” valves to accommodate a new faucet with its own supply lines, so I simply placed the included T between the valve and the faucet supply line as instructed. I also previously had PEX directly to an FIP connection in my home. If this is the case, buying the required adapters should be an easy task. No plumbers tape or sealant should be needed as all the connections have washers. I was able to easily drill the required hole in the sink deck to mount the faucet. The PEX lines from the water supply and from the filter to the faucet are very easy to install and simply push into their respective connections. They can also be easily removed if necessary. The included PEX lines are also color coded to match their connections to avoid confusion. Use – I turned on the water to the RV and when I turned on the faucet I could smell the odor the sunbaked RV hose was giving to the water. I let that run for a minute or two and then turned on the filter faucet. I let that run for around 10 minutes and then gave the water a taste. The water from the main faucet still tasted horribly of plastic from the RV hose that had been in the sun. I then tasted the water from the filter and could not detect any bad flavors at all. Impressions – The flow from the faucet is a bit slow, however I am on a well and it seemed to work well enough both on house water and on the 12V pumps to fill a cup in a short amount of time. Filling a cooking pot or coffee pot may take some more time however, but will still be faster than running the water through a filtering pitcher as we have done in the past. My other observation is that the orientation of the faucet handle is a bit awkward and I felt like it was installed upside down, this doesn’t affect its use however. And finally, the faucet is a bit flimsy feeling but will easily pivot out of the way to avoid damage or getting in the way of dishes or hand washing. Overall I’m very happy with the filter kit and I think it will serve us well for its intended purpose. I wouldn’t have liked to seen a better quality faucet, but even with the cheap faucet I still give it high marks.

Upon opening this product it seems fairly easy to install and has very few parts and components to complete the installation all that is included with the product is in the photo. The filters are well designed and appear to be good quality. the fixture is a chrome finish but the components that screw to mount the fixture to the sink are chrome plated plastic. I imagine that it was designed to prevent corrosion. Over all it is affordable I just wish the fixture was a little bit larger to give it a more heavy duty look.

                      nice
This filter was easy to install within a few minutes. The new stream of water was clean and fresh. There was not a need for a lot of tools unless you need to drill a hole in the sink for the faucet. Or if you would like to mount the filter under your sink. The filter arrives in one piece and the hoses plug into the filter easily. The faucet itself is not the be quality but is a nice design.

Water comes out a few drops at the time.
I have been trying to get this resolved with the company since October 2025, it was installed in August of 2025. They just keep asking me to check more things on it without a resolution. It's obvious the unit needs to be replaced.

                        Don’t buy
Don’t buy this filter. Parts are flimsy. Faucet had a crack inside the assembly and leaked once the water supply was turned on. Ecopure support was terrible. To home depot’s credit, the return process was very easy. Will continue to shop at Home Depot but am staying far away from ecopure

                          Very Poor Water Flow
We bought this filter back in October of 2024. Our house construction was delayed until the first quarter of 2025 and hence we couldn’t install it until the end of March. We had to change the filters in less than a month as the water flow rate dropped to a trickle in and we are on town water. New cartridges are over $50 a piece, this was not going to happen! I don’t recommend this product at all unless you like spending $100 every couple of months.
