      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  As the EPW4F can be used in many different brands of filter housings, it is not rated for a specific percentage reduction of chlorine, as performance may vary somewhat depending on the housing in which it is used.

        Answer This Question

A:  Feel a lot depends on how bad your water is. I get 3 months out of mine before the water begins to feel bad.

        by|Nov 6, 2018

A:  rough question. The answer all depends on the amount of debris in your water. We are on a well that seems to produce enough stuff that we need to change the filters about every 3-4 months on one property and about once a year for another. That said, if you have something similar to condition 1 add a "pre" filter unit. That will help a lot and allow the carbon unit to work better.

          Excellent water softener
I have purchased water softeners from this company for the last 30 years. My new machine is fantastic. Customer Service is friendly and easily accessible. After minor program adjustments, unit has worked perfectly for the last four months. *** Pre-filters to the water softener, are a must, as I am on a well. ***Water softeners are not debris filters. Example, sand, silt, cold water flux and mold general debris that comes from a well. See filters to the right of picture on floor, X2. Even the best city water has trash in it.

We already had the same filter installed in our system for the last 6+ months and it withstood quite a bit of water flow. The hardness of our water is a bit too excessive, so this "sediment" filter helps to filter out majority of redish "iron" before it goes to our filtration system and water softener. Will fit all of the "whole house" filters with 5x10 inch size cup. When changing a filter - don't forget to check/replace/grease the o-ring! HIGHLY recommend!

I have used a whole house filter for my well water for over 30 years. I have only used the string and non carbon pleated type of filters. I wanted to try this EPWO4 filter for several reasons. This EcoPure filter will filter out down to 1 micron which is way better than the other filters I've been using all these years. The other big reason I wanted to try it was that it lasts up to 6 months, some of my old filters needed to be changed every 3 months. Every time I change my filter I'm always concerned that I'll be able to get the plastic cover on just right so it won't leak! If this filter lets me only have to go through that "worry" only 2 times a year rather than 4 times a year, it's worth it! A few things that you might want to know: 1. Instructions are in English, Spanish and French 2. It comes with new rubber washers top & bottom 3. Filter is 9 1/2" tall by 4 1/2" wide 4. The inlet and outlet are 1 1/16" 5. The weight of the filter is about twice that of a pleated one 6. Does not seem to slow the flow of water, but might do so once it gets clogged with sediment.

              Hmmmm.....looks well constructed
This filter is being used in lieu of my normal whole house filter the DuPont WFHDC8001 replacement carbon wrap 2-phase cartridge. My observations: -This filter does not have the outer mesh that my normal filter does -This filter has the o-rings built it, unlike the DuPont filter (at the top and bottom of the filter) -The pleats in the filter seemed to be spaced farther apart- does this mean it traps less? I will leave a new review after I have used this for 30 days. Until then, I cannot recommend this product.

              Short life span
I bought this filter in October hoping it would last up to 6 months as advertised, however month 2 is not even done yet and the water pressure in my house has been greatly reduced. Looks like this filter has to be changed out. Definitely not worth the money.

              Hello Mare,

I am sorry to hear that the filter did not perform as you had expected.
The 6-month rating for the filter is dependent upon the conditions of the water it is treating. The FACT filter is intended to be used on low sediment city water to reduce chlorine. This is a fine filter not intended as a standalone filter for higher sediment water.

Here is a guide explaining the roles of the different types of filters.

Ah! Soft water Returns to our home!
It’s Great to have soft water again! our new EcoPure 42,00 arrived via FedEx. They dropped it in the center of our driveway. Fortunately no one stole it. We opened the bow everything was there except the overflow fitting. The bypass valve piping was narrower than our old Kenmore, so had to use flex lines. Other tan that, it hooked up easily. Slot water is back and flowing nicely. We are happy with our purchase.

                It works so far
It works so far, but it has only been a couple weeks. The plastic tank and cover seem thin and not that sturdy. I do not like the top cover - while you can remove it, if you need to work on anything underneath (such as removing the venturi to clean it), the short length of the wires from the control panel to locations on the valve assembly require detaching a couple of the connections to provide enough work room. Very poor design. Also it is difficult to reattach the cover due to the clearance between the bypass and the back of the unit. Never had those problems on my older Kenmore 420.
