This can be used as helping out an on demand unit but mainly it will give you hot water while waiting for your regular hot water heater to get you hot water. A 2.5 gallon heater won’t last more than a couple of minutes.
Good day Alvie and thank you for contacting Ecosmart through the Home Depot support. Our ECO Mini-Tank units are GLASS-LINED STEEL Tanks. If you have any other questions or any concerns, please feel free to contact our customer support at 877-474-6473. Thank you for your time.
Good day and thank you for contacting Ecosmart through the Home Depot support. The ECO Mini-Tank 1.5 has a recovery time of 8 minutes. EXAMPLE: If the ECO Mini-Tank 1.5 had to recover three times in a day that will be 24 minutes of recovery per day and 8760 minutes of recovery in a year. If you paid $0.10 per kw that will come out to be $21 per year. This was just an example with an estimated cost per year.
Good day and thank you for contacting Ecosmart through the Home Depot Support. The amount of water use depends on the size of the shower (GPM) and the amount of time one can spend running the water at the shower. Example: A showerhead that is rated at 2.0 GPM can use up 10 gallons in just five (5) minutes. The ECO Mini 6 unit only holds 6 gallons of hot water and as the unit is in use, cold water is being mixed in as the hot water flows out. We don't recommend this heater for a shower. You will have to go with a tankless water heater such as the ECO 8 or ECO 11 depending on the ground temperature of incoming water. If any questions or concerns, please contact our customer support at 877-474-6473. Thank you for your time.
Yes it can be used that way, all it needs is the cold water output from the RO
It takes up about 20% of your cabinet under the kitchen sink. I placed mine in the back left corner and I still have cleaning supplies in front of it and on the opposite side of the sink pipes. It doesn't take up a whole lot of room. Best item I ever bought for the kitchen. My wife loves it.
We've had ours for over 4 years and didn't even know you might have to replace an Anode. This unit works perfectly. Hot water immediately. We've had it on a timer so we're not using energy while we sleep. My husband installed it himself, easily. We'll be buyer another for our washer. Our pipes run about 80 feet from the HWH under concrete, so this has been a gem.
Good day Steve and Thank you for contacting Ecosmart. If the unit has not been receiving power, it will take about 35 - 40 minutes for the water in the mini tank to be fully heated. If you have any questions or any concerns, please contact our customer support at 877-474-6473. Thank you for your time.
In Europe many bathrooms have a high-power on-demand heater in the bathroom that directly heats water for that bathroom. So, water is heated right where it's used. Not common in the US. Here "point-of-use" usually means a small tank with a heating element in it that keeps a few gallons of water hot. In our house I installed one because it took a while for hot water to make it through the pipes to our bathroom sink. Works great. Not for showers since the volume isn't big enough.
