A:  Good day and thank you for contacting EcoSmart through the Home Depot support. Both the ECO POU 4 & 6 are made for handwashing which are supplied with an aerator that is rated at 0.5 GPM. The aerator reduces water flow, but does not reduce pressure. The temperature rise information is all stated on our website and marketed on the box as well. If you have any questions or any concerns, please feel free to contact our customer support at 1.877.474.6473. Thank you.

Performs as specified, and straightforward to install (given that you need to bring the 30A 240V circuit to it). I'm not sure all these small one-sink water heaters have a temperature control, but this one does which is definitely a good thing. We have it on a kitchen sink at our farm, and have very low water pressure, but it does fine in this application. In another building where we have showers we use direct solar hot water, but in this kitchen there was not good solar exposure. We'll need to eliminate natural gas and propane entirely over the next decade in order to stop changing the climate, and these little electric point-of-use water heaters are an ideal way to do that, while giving you hot water quickly when you need it.

Long pipe runs from a hot water heater to the kitchen sink was a waste of water and more electricity costs. We received the EcoSmart Electric Tankless Water heater to place under the kitchen sink, since it is the most used. The water heater is simple to install and has a template to drill holes to hold it in place. In our case, we had to wait for a plumber and electrician to run new wire and to do the final hook ups. Directions are easy to understand to install and to operate. However, you cannot use this heater at full flow as the temperature of the water is dependent on how slowly the water crosses the heating filaments. It comes with a restrictor to slow the water down to .5 gallons a minute. Unfortunately, we have the spray nozzle type faucet and it cannot be installed. I think maybe the best solution is to install this inline with an existing how water heater so you can get the best of both worlds. It is still a great product to use and should save costs on heating the water.

EcoSmart 4 kW Point of Use Electric Tankless Water Heater. This item was easy to install the instructions are a bit vague about installation and they recommend a qualified electrician and a qualified plumber to do the work. But if you’re comfortable with doing this type of work you shouldn’t have a problem. The unit came with a nice cardboard template to mark the screw locations. It also came with two aerators for your faucet to regulate the flow for optimum temperatures. I would suggest starting with setting the temperature lower and increasing it every few days until you are happy with a set temp. If you press and hold the power button you can switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius if you want that reading. The temperature adjustments are very easy to use. The water comes out quickly and it only takes a couple of seconds to get hot at the faucet. The base is 12” wide and 7” tall and just about 3” thick. I’m very pleased with this item and I would recommend it.

We have a vanity that’s never had hot water, and decided to install the EcoSmart 6.5 kW Point of Use Electric Tankless Water Heater. The water heater mounts easily on any surface near the fixture, and includes ½ inch NPT fitting for connecting cold and hot water lines, along with connection for 240 Volt Power. I especially like the ability to set the water temperature, and the heater automatically modulates the power to achieve that setting. Installation instructions are well written and stresses the need for purging the lines before use, and to always insure no air is in the lines. The tankless water heater comes set for 6.5 kW, however, there are tabs in the circuit board for lower wattage settings. Of course the ability of the heater to achieve the temperature setting is dependent on the cold water temperature, flow rate, and the power of the heating element. The unit also has a safety setting for minimum flow rate before it will turn on. It does take some effort and cost to install valves, piping and electrical power to the EcoSmart Tankless Water Heater. However, once installed, hot water is available on demand and without the need for an expensive water tank and constantly storing hot water. It’s especially beneficial for occasional use fixtures.

The ECOSMART 4 KW POINT OF USE ELECTRIC water heater is a good option if you are needing to get hot/warm water to a specific area of your home. Depending on its size you can get hot water to A sink or A shower. This kit is getting hot water to our master bath sink only. Use to take a minute to warm the water, now it’s a matter of seconds. Con: we had to hire a licensed plumber. So be ready to spend on that. Small enough to fit almost anywhere. But you will save on not running so much water to get hot water. I think it’s a win.

Was really looking forward to having quick hot water when using the kitchen sink. At the time I ordered this tankless water heater I didn't realize it was a 240V, guess I thought it was a 120V. Where I live even if you are a licensed general contractor you legally cannot install yourself. According to our local code you have to have a licensed electrical contractor to install with a receipt showing his license number should you sell your house to prove the install was to code. We have to move and relocate a few things under the sink first and then the installer will come out. Its a bit of as hassle but it appears that others who have purchased this water heater are pleased with it's performance and we know this unit is recommended for warmer climates, which is here in Calif. Really looking forward to the install within the next two weeks.

A bit disappointed in this as it requires a dedication 30amp service to run. I have the unit installed under the bathroom sink where it's going, but I'm now waiting for a electrician to squeeze me in by the end of November to get this hooked up. Overall though the unit is compact and should help with bringing hot water to my bathroom where it takes about 5 minutes to get hot now. Was hoping this was more of a plug in unit but it requires direct wiring, luckily only 110 so it will be less expensive to get installed. Electrician said he can probably add a plug and matching outlet, but will determine the best way when he's here.

I have the unit installed under the sink where it's going, but I'm now waiting for a electrician to squeeze me in by the end of November to get this hooked up. I received the 6.5 kw tankless water heater as part of the SEEDS Program offered by Home Depot. My application was to supply only a 1.25 GPM shower head! After reading all the accompanying literature that came with the heater, I realized this product would not provide me with enough water warm for my application. We live in Arizona and the water supply to that bathroom is located in a none heated attic with VERY limited access. So during the coldest part of the year, the water temperature starts out around 40-50 degrees. The chart that comes with the tankless water heater states that @ a 1.25 GPM rate, the heated water will exit the shower 35.5 degrees warmer! This means the usable water will measure only 75.5-85.5 degrees F. It was so unfortunate, because I was really hoping to have warmer shower temperature using this heater. So, when looking at this 6.5 kw Tankless Water Heater, check out what your needs are and read the additional information listed for this item on line to determine if it or a larger/smaller unit would be best for you! I wasn’t able to state in this review whether this product was Excellent or not, but do your research, read as many reviews as possible so you understand what you need.

EcoSmart 6.5 kW Point of Use Electric Tankless Water Heater. Recommended We live in an older house where the kitchen sink is a far distance from the Hybrid hot water tank. It takes a “long” time to get hot water. Then If you shut off the flow for a few minutes you have to start over. My wife has always complained. So I decided to install the EcoSmart 6.5 POU as a luxury . It comes with a template for easy mounting. The instructions for the rest of the connections were clear, simple and were also very easy to do. The unit gets warm in a few seconds and provides as much hot water as we can use, even after a big meal. We are happy with the hot water production. This was a retrofit so there was no 240V . A new line had to be installed with the 30 AMP breaker. This can dramatically increase the cost of the entire project. Something to be considered. However in a kitchen setting you will need the power. A smaller unit running on 120V will not make you happy. I would use this unit again for new construction or any commercial sink application. [ We have a few in our factory for hand and wash sinks]
