      Handles bird mess
      Overall the Deebot x1 PLUS cleans intelligently and well, with great understanding of what not to clean and how to get around chair legs and such. It has exceeded my expectations on cleaning ability. A key task for my particular Deebot is picking up after a messy parrot. The bird flings food. Any vegetable turns into a circle of vegetable bits around the cage area. Now my Deebot wakes up three times a day to vacuum the cage area. Problem solved. The only minor glitch I've seen was changing the dust bag after a few weeks. I bought cheap after market bags but the bags appear to be slightly too thin to register within the station. The problem is now fixed. I can report that customer service responded immediately and volunteered to have the Deebot shipped back for service at their expense if needed.

      Very Nice
      First, I wanted to mention that I'm a blind person so I will be describing the purchase, set up , and use of this robot without sight. I have a little bit of vision, enough to see light and dark and some objects but I can't read print or see most colors. I decided to go with the plus version of the X1 since mopping really wasn't a big priority for me, I do have all hard floors but don't have any pets and I usually don't have issues with stains on my floor. Also I have heard that the stations for the turbo and omni models are quite large. I did require sighted help to purchase the robot on the Ecovacs web site. Since I can't read the computer screen I use a screen reader which allows a person to read and interact with the computer using speech. On the last page of the ordering process, there is a check box that you need to select to agree to the terms before clicking the "place order" button. I was not able to check the option and had to get sighted help for this. I have notified Ecovacs about this issue and hopefully this is something that they will resolve with their site. After taking everything out of the box, I was able to identify everything by touch. I do have a small robot vacuum collection, this is my ninth robot so I'm familiar with how they work and the set up process. This robot has two side brushes and they are different colors. I'm pretty sure I installed them correctly, I had enough vision to tell that one brush was lighter than the other one, and I noticed the same thing on the robot so I matched them up that way, however, someone who has no vision at all could definitely have a problem. From what I can tell, it would have been possible to install the brushes in the wrong place, I'm not sure if this would cause a major problem but I would suggest that Ecovacs change this so it's only possible to install the brush in the correct place, unless reversing them would not really cause a problem, both of my side brushes are definitely spinning so I'm assuming it's fine. I use an iphone and it has a built in screen reader called Voiceover that allows a blind person to use the touch screen without seeing it. Depending on how an application is developed, it may or may not read well. The Ecovacs home app works well with Voiceover. I didn't bother trying to scan the bar code, I just opened the app store and downloaded the app that way. I already had an account that I created when I purchased the robot and I was able to log in to this account in the app. I did run in to either a bug or a design flaw when trying to connect the X1 Plus to my network, I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or if it can be corrected in software but at first the robot could not find my network. It turns out that the robot will not work if the network is hidden, that is, the router does not broadcast the network name. I had my network set as hidden for added security but I had to change this in order for the robot to connect to my network, none of my other devices have this issue. Once I changed my router to broadcast the network name the rest of the set up worked fine. I had no problem changing the robot settings in the app, I prefer to use the maximum power the robot has, if the power is available, why not use it for a better clean? I'm not sure if Ecovacs thought of this but the Yiko voice assistant might be very useful for someone who has a disability related to motor skills which could prevent them from holding or using a mobile device to run the app. Once the robot is set up, the voice assistant can be used to access most of the robot features. In conclusion, I would say this is a great robot, I was able to set it up without any sighted help, hopefully the issue I mentioned with the web site can be addressed and if possible, fix the issue so the robot works with hidden wi-fi networks. The robot cleans really well and it's a robot that I would definitely recommend.
