The specifications state this is 3.5 inches wide. What is the dimensions on the side face? The picture looks like it is wider than the bottom edge. (i.e. is the cross sections square or rectangle?)
It looks like this particular one is created using a 4x6 so the side would be about 5.5-in.
How much weight can this brace support?
These brackets are solid Western Red Cedar, however, since these brackets have not gone through formal testing we do not have a load bearing rating on them yet. Under normal applications, they are more than sufficient for most load bearing applications. I would recommend that you consult an on site engineer, to discuss your specific projects requirement.
