Water filters provide cleaner, great tasting water for drinking fountains, water coolers and bottle fillers. All of our filters are made with activated carbon to improve taste and odor. Many also reduce contaminants such as lead. Elkay's filters are easy to connect and are self-contained replaceable cartridges, limiting exposure to contaminated media.

These are genuine Elkay filters that have the RFID chip to reset the counter. Certain patents have expired, allowing production of copycat filters that are not built to Elkay standards. To make sure you are getting Elkay quality look for the Elkay brand when shopping for replacements.
Sorry for the delay as I have been away for a few days. What you describe is strange. I do know that some modern fountains have flow meters that shut the flow of water off after the capacity of the filter has been reached. But I find it hard to believe thousands of gallons were used in such a short period of time. The only times I have seen a filter get so blocked that the flow of water stopped are in situations where the customer did not know they had a filter. So, it never changed. After a few years the filter did get so clogged that the flow dropped to zero. You see this a lot with ice makers. The other time is in areas where there have been water main breaks, work on water mains or hydrant flushing. These activities stir up the sediment and rust sitting in the pipes. When these sediments get brought into solution, they can clog filters prematurely.
Over the last couple years Elkay has reduced the overall size of their filters as well as the number of filter models. The goal was to get to one model fits all. During this process it seems the size changed with every shipment. To make sure I give you accurate information I went to the warehouse and grabbed one. The 51300C filters that we have in stock measure 91/4”x3”. I am told this new size should fit almost all their filter equipped unit’s past, present and future. It was described to me as “the new standard”.
Elkay does not produce filters they are made for them by a company that specializes in filters to Elkay’s specifications. As fountains and filtration have evolved over the past decade, Elkay found itself in a situation where it had too many different replacement filter cartridges to choose from. The biggest challenge came from the new residential coolers. Because of their compact design they required a special short filter. Roughly two years ago an initiative began to standardize the size of all the filters, with one overall shape fitting all units. Elkay standardized around the shorter filter with a larger diameter. All the styles comply with the same NSF standards as the previous versions. During this same period the family that owned Elkay sold the business to a company called Zurn. As the two companies integrated shipments began to be shaped differently depending on where they were shipped from and what box quantity they ordered in. On top of this Home Depot stocks filters in its regional distribution centers. The bottom line is, even though they have the same model number and properties, filters of two different shapes have simultaneously been in the supply chain for much too long. I apologize for the confusion. But again, I can assure you that if a filter carries model number 51300C it performs the same regardless of overall size and shape. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. I will have the images and information updated.
Yes, this will fit. Generally, if the Elkay cooler has a model number that begins with the letter L it came from the factory equipped with filtration and this filter will fit. Don’t be surprised if this filter looks different from the one you are replacing, they both feature the connection thread. The first coolers that came equipped with filters used a larger cartridge. As coolers became smaller for home use, they developed a smaller cartridge for those specialty units. Now they offer this cartridge which will fit in all the units that are equipped from the factory with filtration.
I am sorry but the model information you have given, “ADIM 795694” does not mean anything to me. It does not come up in Elkay’s system nor does it follow Elkay’s prodigal for assigning model and part numbers. Please confirm your information and feel free to give me a call. Chris 978 651 3301
