Elmer's Carpenter's Color Change Wood Filler White goes on purple and dries white when ready to paint, stain or sand. Use it to fix holes, dents, scratches, gouges and any other defects on interior wood surfaces. After the color changes, easily finish and stain or paint to make the wood look just like new. This patented formula repairs holes and gouges, securely holds nails and screws and resists shrinking and cracking. Use it indoors year round because it is solvent free, non-toxic and has easy water clean-up.

That product is only recommended for indoor applications.
Use a toothpick and wood glue - not wood filler. It's easy. Coat a wooden toothpick with good quality wood glue. Stick it into the screw hole. Jam it in as far as you can. Break off even with the cabinet door. Then screw in your screw. Let set for a few hours without disturbing. You want the glue to dry completely. Works every time!
You should not experience any problem drilling this wood filler, check that you have a sharp bit, and that you aren't drilling in reverse.
It may be that your drill bit is dull. Bits normally do get hot after use due to the friction, so I do suspect your bit may be dull (causing the overheating).
Make sure that it has fully cured, and use an awe to predrill the hole.
