Didn't spend the money for the kit. Used a high quality brass ball valve and controlled the logs off of that. The ball valve was connected directly to the gas meter.
Damper must be open when ever in use.
if you are not having to replace the burner, it should be easy for you to do yourself. Just follow the directions. If the burner pipe needs to be replaced, Home Depot sent one of their plumbers and he did a good job on mine. Name is Fish Plumbing (817) 637-3131.
I would defer to technical specs. LP uses a different connection and different type of burner Not sure about the remote. It would likely be better to buy a new one set up the way you need it
The gas log set is designed for indoor use only.
The 18” Split Oak Vented Gas Log Set is not designed for a remote control. The log set needs to be started by manually turning on the gas and igniting the gas with a match or a lighter. I do not know of a remote that will be able to turn on the gas and ignite the gas. It may be better to purchase a gas log set that is equipped for remote starting than to try to purchase a separate remote starter and connect it to the 18” Split Oak Vented Gas Log Set.
I do not believe that the ash is supposed to crackle. The ash is meant to be decorative. If it crackled, most likely the ash that glows red would need replacing more frequently.
Hello and thanks for your question. The size is known as 3/8" flare. It's common at most hardware stores. You can get an aluminum one that is "bendable". They tend to be quieter than the ones with ridges. Some people take the crushed shale that comes with the unit and cover the supply line with it.
I'm interested in buying one. Have a couple questions. does it have thermostat? And does it have a control module?
Hello and thanks for your question. I recommend a vent free log set if using as your main heat source. Much more efficient. But to answer your question...Yes. Model RVS-304 is a safety pilot with On/Off remote control. You can disconnect the remote and connect it to a thermostat. Although for the money, you could get a vent free set with built in thermostat for close to the same amount of money.
