Are the logs cement or are they ceramic?
Asked by: Johnp
I'm no expert. Seems to be ceramic. Too light to be cement. Could be another similar material.

I bought this last year in December. The remote stopped working in April and hasn't worked since. We tried everything, including replacing the batteries on the log unit beneath the cover. Is anyone else having this issue? Did anyone else resolve the issue?
Asked by: ACrope
Hi All, thanks for your responses. I replaced the batteries in everything-- so that's definitely not it. It WAS working great until last April, less than 6 months after we purchased it. It's extremely annoying as I definitely wanted one that had a remote for safety reasons. I guess I will call the number and see what the warranty is on it. Again, many thanks for your responses!

does the burner come with it?

does the burner come with it?
Asked by: HENRY
yes it comes all inclusive just install it all and it is good to go , I got it as a gift from my friend who actually has had this fireplace for 2 years and is very happy with it. One suggestion do not install the small battery box inside the housing as it is too intricate and time consuming , and you have to redo it every time the battery runs out so I just leave it on the ground where it is supposed to be without actually installing it. And has been working great for me and my friend.

Yes they can be used for natural or propane. Purchased 1 month ago to replace another set of logs. Love them and the remote works great.

In order to assemble the remote control we had to completely unassemble the remote control box in the unit. It was very difficult and had to undo the whole setup. Wish there was just a simple trap door on the front that you could open and insert the batteries and be done with it. Dread now whenever we have to replace the batteries because we'll have to unassemble the whole thing again. The Flames are realistic looking enough and really puts out great Heat.

It heats our whole house and it is beautiful. Now why do I only give it 4 stars. The remote not only has batteries in the hand held remote but also has batteries inside the fireplace. You need to take apart and unscrew the unit to change the batteries We are using it without the remote which was wonderful when it had working batteries.

It was impossible to bend it to shape as the instructions indicated. I was afraid I was going to break it, and I finally gave up trying to bend it. After making a trip to Home Depot to purchase a flexible gas line, installation was a breeze. Why not include a flexible line instead of a rigid tube? This is the only reason I am not rating it 5 stars. We've already used it several times since installing it a few weeks ago, and even at the low setting it puts out a lot of heat. We really love the remote!

The manual that was sent with the logs was an old one which required a number of calls for clarification on a number of issues. Also the cover plate for the switch was too big and placed the weight of the front of the unit on it, making it usnstable, because the front of the grate was raised up about a half an inch above the floor of the firebox and resting on the cover. Also, when I turn it on with the remote it whistles. I have tried 3 flexible hoses to remedy that, but it still whistles about every other time I turn it on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like the remote start! The logs look very realistic. Had done a lot of research on gas fireplace logs. Settled on this one even though some people had rated it poorly. It was an easy setup, and the fireplace logs are way more realistic that my old set. The remote start works fine. Two logs were broken upon delivery...even though very securely packed, the box is very heavy, so I called the manufacturer. The lady with whom I spoke could not have been more polite and professional and said they would ship out replacement logs....NO CHARGE. They arrived 3 days later. I am totally satisfied with the product and the assistance given by their product support folks. Highly recommend.

I wish I could give this a better review, but I never received the logs that were broken during shipment. Home Depot opened the box to do a so called inspection, and never said that anything was broken. In addition, the firebox shows gas line from either side through knockouts, but when you plumb this in, the log set only plumbs from the right side, unless you run gas line across the back of the unit. Heat wise, it works great with the blower, but I cant tell you how it looks, WITHOUT MY LOG SET!!!!!

The remote does not work. When I called their customer service they generally disrespectful and not much help. They are sending me a replacement receiver which I will need to disassemble the logs to replace. I would say the average homeowner would not be able to install these logs in which case to hire a contractor to install them would be cost prohibitive.
