      Great 24 inch level
I've got a handful of 24 and 48 inch levels around my garage. I've kind of always wanted a digital level, but I wasn't sure if they were accurate. I don't do professional work anymore, but I've done plenty in the past. I didn't think a level like this would hold up in a DIY environment, let-alone a professional environment. So, I got this one and did some experiments. I built a raised bed garden at 4 feet by 4 feet. I double checked it with my conventional level, as well as the digital level. See attached picture. The digital level was MUCH better than my eye and the bubble level. My wife was worried about the dirt and water, but I told her to abuse it and not worry about it. I also hung some drywall in my garage. I actually shot it with a self-leveling laser and checked it against the digital level. The digital display was SO much better than the bubble level. Again, see the attached picture (although the laser can't be seen). Yes, a regular bubble level CAN be accurate under the right conditions. But, after using the digital level, I'm sure I'm not going back to a straight bubble level ever again. I'm going to buy the 4 foot and probably even a larger 6 or 8 foot level. Also, it's a nice aluminum chassis. Of course, the solid-state electronics are actually more durable than a bubble level, so I really don't have any worries there. The electronics are probably rated at 200g's or something crazy like that, much higher than any bubble level. Overall, I'm definitely going to switch to digital levels. It's just too easy to look over and line it up without having to hold your head and eye "just right" to get it close. Yeah, for a professional framer, I'm sure they don't care all that much as long as it's close, but for my personal projects, it's worth it to me to be right on the money.

Digital display and accuracy, easy to use upgrade on a must have tool
This is an electronic upgrade of an old standard, the bubble level. This unit is a 24 inch model. It features a very nice carrying case and it is magnetic so it will hold itself to metal surfaces. The level contains two standard “old school” bubbles, one on the top, and one on the side, but they are more for quick reference as the digital electronic display really tells the story with this unit. It gives you a digital read out and direction indicators to provide a much clearer and precise measurement than eye balling the bubbles. It also features audio alerts so you can determine precisely level when moving the object up or down. A hold feature also keeps the last reading. The unit has seven modes to choose from on the display, including decimals, degrees, and in/ft. or mm/m. The digital display is backlit and easy to read, with both a side and upper face. Unit auto calibrates for accuracy.

You know you want this long of a level. Get it cause it works great
I use this size of a level for installing fences and doors because it can span teh opennings and spaces. I am sure there a lot of other uses. The digital feture is nice but so accurate it leaves you feeling like perfect has never happened until this level was made. The packaging and teh bag with a zipper and pockets is a great touch and I know this level is going to be here for a lot of year. No you can't borrow it.

      Fantastic level from Empire
The level seems well thought out with plenty of modes depending on the task you're trying to accomplish. The LCD screen is clear and easy to read. The backlight is especially helpful in low light situations. The level is user friendlh with audible alerts to when you're on target. Level comes with a nice case and if you purchased the 16 inch version as well to both fit in the case.

      Fantastic
Until using this digital box level, I was extremely skeptical that a digital level would be any better than a standard fluid vial level. Thankfully, I finally gave it a try and I was very impressed. My father-in-law can eyeball level really well, but I can't to save my life. I got pretty good with normal levels, but this makes the job a cinch! The audible tones for positive/negative adjustment and level are perfect for not having to take your eyes off your work.

      Very nice level
This is a very nice level. Has audible alarm with different beep tone for positive/negative adjustment and steady tone for level. Clear side and top display with backlight...it's nice to have independent displays. This thing even Auto calibrates every time it is turned on...I am not quite sure how that works but it does so far. Accuracy settings are adjustable... Precision Modes: Degree, Tenths (1.1°)...Degree, Hundredths (1.15°)...mm/m (104.17 mm/m)...Percentage (2%) Rough-In Modes: Degree (1°), in/ft, Fractional (1/4 in/ft), in/ft, Decimal (.25 in/ft). The unit has 4- power save modes and a tilt indicator and even comes with a zipper pouch but no shoulder strap even though it has plastic d-rings for it. It measures true to the acrylic block bubbles and has a good feel to it however, the vials are not backlit. It's not too heavy for a 72" level with grips in the right locations. This is an impressive digital level and is dust and water protected to IP65 ratings. It's quite impressive and I think I will be adding the others to my truck because it never hurts to have a second check on accuracy when reading a vial.
