A:Â I don't know the exact tolerances, but this has been a great workhorse for me in my custom cabinet shop. Compared to my Incra products, this is just as accurate. I also like the weight of it, it feels sturdy and does not move

Bought this square to replace a different brand that I had dropped and bent - I'm very happy with this one, it is solidly built, accurate and square, and heavy. The 1/16th markings are on opposing faces which is handy for laying out lines and marking. The metal handle has nice weight to it that my previous square did not have. I like this, makes it feel more stable when doing measurements. I've been using this to mark layouts for cabinet doors, drawers, drawer slides, cabinet bodies, etc.

I love this square, it just feels right when i iut my hands on it. my favorite tool. Only thing is the handle is made out of aluminum, which can throw it out of square, maybe a bevel on the corners would get rid of that problem. Other than that it exceeds my expectations. I do commercial frame so my work needs to be 100% on point, always.

Definitely Heavy duty and definitely square
I got this square to lay out joinery in woodworking. I use mostly hand tools and traditional methods in my work, and a square plays a big role. I have quite a few but chose this one for some key reasons.
The first being the fixed position of the blade. there is a margin for error with moving parts. Even my very expensive combination squares are inaccurate if I forget to lock them.
The second is the mass. Everything on this is huge. The rule is steel and the base is aluminum so it's not overly heavy, but it's substantial. When you slide it up to a face to check for 90 degrees, there is a very positive "thud".
Also I use it for knife lines. When laying out cuts and joinery lines, they are usually done with a knife instead of a pencil. A knife is far more accurate and gives whatever tool your are using (saw, chisel, joinery plane, etc) a positive registration point. The thick blade provides ample surface for the knife blade to ride against without climbing up as it would on a thinner rule.
I did take a star off of the overall rating and the quality. The overall because I would like to see finer graduations on the rule. The quality of the tools is definitely good, but there were a lot of scratches in the aluminum. I'm not a stickler for aesthetics, but this tool almost looked used right out of the package.
Measured with my starrett double square, it is perfectly square for at least the first 4". I couldn't get any size feeler gauge I have between the two squares when mated up.
I would recommend this, and I wish there was a 4" and 12" size available as well.
The packaging claims that the square is a True Blue product. True Blue products are always best in their class. They meet or exceed accuracy standards in each and every product category where the brand appears. And if it's a True Blue long level, it meets or exceeds a minimum accuracy standard of 0.0005 inch. Empire True Blue® levels and squares are engineered to offer accuracy, durability and enhanced readability. These measuring instruments are considered to be the most accurate available on the job sites throughout the world.
In my personal observation the above statement for this product is far from truth. The first and the last intervals on the scale are inconsistent enough to render the square useless for my basic woodworking. Look at the picture I took with my cell phone. The fist interval is quite wider than the rest and is more like 3/32 than 1/16. When I grabbed the second square on the shelf it was way too narrow. Out of four squares I looked at all four were clearly different.
