Product Overview

Endura Flap Pet Doors for Walls are manufactured in the USA to be flexible, safe, and energy efficient in all climates. Translucent, dual-pane flaps seals tightly against the outside weather using a patented system of magnets. This pet door has two, dual-layered flaps (on outside frame and inside frame) for superior energy efficiency. Due to the strong magnetic seal, it may not be suitable for timid, small dogs and cats (a single flap option is available). When closed, the flaps significantly reduce air conditioning and heat loss and withstand winds up to 50 mph. Each unit permanently installs into your wall, up to eight (8) inches thick and includes a locking security panel. Comes with: Interior and exterior frame, aluminum wall tunnel, security panel, mounting hardware and installation instructions.  Available in three colors: White, Black and Tan. 15-year warranty!

The Endura Flap 6 in. W x 10 in. L Small Double Flap for Walls with Tan Aluminum Frame is detailed, strong and VERY sturdy. It may appear a bit pricey but when you think of putting in a door or window and then look at the price and construction of this door it is a great value. The double flap construction is necessary for several reasons. My biggest concerns were insulation and outside varmints getting in. The insulation factor is fantastic, blocks the heat and I am sure it would work the same on cold. My previous door only had one flap. I have had feral cats chase my tame cats through the door. It took some time for my cats to get used to it. I had to shove them through it from the inside and from the outside several times. Now they have no problem. I have watched a feral cat come up to the door. They will check out the outside flap and that is the end of it. This is not an install project for the weekend handyman if you do not have the time or knowledge to put into it get a professional to install. You will need special tools and you will want to be sure there is no electrical in the way and that you are beside a stud and trying to cut through it. I hired it done because I did not have time. Impressively it only took the installer 1 hour and was well worth the expense.

This excellent pet flap is well made and with two flaps does a good job of keeping out the weather and reducing heat loss. Installation was somewhat challenging and took me the better part of a day to complete, although I do work slowly. Matching holes must be cut in the inside and exterior walls with a jig saw. Insulation must be removed, which may be a dirty job. The product consists of two sturdy frames with flaps, a tunnel made from four pieces of thin aluminum sheet, four long threaded screws and some nuts and screws. The tunnel parts need to be trimmed to match the overall wall thickness. The instructions suggested trimming the tunnel parts separately with shears or a jigsaw. I chose to assemble the tunnel parts prior to trimming and used a table saw and a wooden jig to trim the tunnel. This made for a very clean cut. The tunnel is attached to the inside frame and is passed through the holes in the walls from the inside of the house. The outside frame is attached to the inside frame using the four long screws and nuts. They are tightened so that the two frames grip the house walls. The screws are oversize and must be trimmed off. The manual suggests wiggling the screws until they snap. It would probably be better to partially cut through the screws just past the point where they stick out from the frame to make a cleaner break. Obviously this installation is easier with two people but it is just possible to do single handed. The final task was to train our cats to use the flap. They were used to my old cat flap but this one is much heavier so they had to be pushed trough a few times before they caught on. The double flaps and close tolerances minimize air gaps so much less heat is lost than with my old flap.
