Product Overview

Made from 100% recycled rubber, Envirotile has saved approximately 3 million tires from being sent to the landfill. Due to the nature of recycled materials, the tire rubber will vary from tile to tile. This variance results in each tile's naturally unique color as well as size, equaling up to 1/4 in. size difference from tile to tile. Envirotile is a floating floor system with a patented clipping system (sold separately) that provides the ease of a do-it-yourself application. These tiles can be installed on top of any existing hard surface such as wood, concrete and patio tiles. The floating floor system is an investment; it is simple to pick up your tiles and move them to another location.
  • For use on balconies, patios, rooftops, decks, child play areas and more to create a beautiful floor
  • Each tile weighs approximately 8 lbs., making it light enough to carry by hand but heavy enough to stay put in place
  • Recycled rubber tiles are noise absorbing and anti-fatigue
  • Tiles are weather and frost resistant and do not have to be removed during the winter
  • Non-skid and impact absorbing
  • Easy DIY installation using patented connector clips, see installation guide and video for step-by-step instructions
  • Size variance, rotating the tiles side by side to find the best fit will help to alleviate variance issues
  • $3.55/ sq. ft. equivalent

5 years ago we had a huge problem with mud in an area off a room construction we did. The land was sloping and it would take a long time for the grass to grow into the bare areas. We found the pavers in the local HD store and brought them home. In less than a day we had all the mud covered. My husband and I just laid them down on mud, rocks and grass. They were not perfectly flat like a built patio but they looked surprisingly good and solved our immediate problem for about $700 and they are still working and still looking good. We get a lot of snow and ice and these warm up faster than stone and we don't slip on them-important because we are old. I just bought another batch of them to add onto the first group to extend the patio and a walkway down our sloping back grass. They look good, are cheap, and a 76 year old woman took less than 2 hours to lay the new batch down without any help. Each tile is heavy. We had hardly any trouble with grass growing between them. The lawn we left still looks good. I was so glad to see that they are still made--a little more expensive now. I am on this site to order some more and complete the pathway which is working great. The first batch got a little darker since we put them in but they blend and still look good. So easy!

These tiles are a perfect solution for an uneven or settling surface. If you want precision joints and perfect alignment, these are not for you. If you want a good-looking, comfortable-to-stand-on surface these are for you. These are a recycled-tires product, so they vary slightly from tile to tile. Horizontal AND vertical dimensions vary within 1/8 inch. I used a small 10-inch bandsaw to cut many curves and straight lines in my installation and it worked great. I noticed that the thicker tiles were also denser, based on how hard the saw worked to cut them. The tiles can pinch behind the blade. If so, I used both hands to twist the tile in front of the blade so that it would split better behind the blade, i.e. right hand applying clockwise pressure, left hand counter-clockwise pressure. Pretty standard bandsaw protocol. I am the second owner in our condo building to install these on a concrete balcony. Terra cotta tile on both our balconies had been undercut by crumbling underlayment and the tile cracked. The flexibility of these tiles should work well on our not-perfect concrete surface. I had little trouble with the clips: Install under one side of the joint, pull them as far towards the other side of joint as you can, be sure they are perpendicular to the joint. If they don't fit, lift one side up and I would bet that the clip is not perpendicular. Rubber mallet is a good tool to snap them in place. Did I mention to keep the clips perpendicular? It is critical, but simple. Do plan ahead--your local Home Depot may or may not have them in stock. If not, it can take a couple weeks to order them in.

In the past I have installed these on my front porch and my screened porch. They do exactly what I wanted, made a warmer looking area and are softer to walk on than concrete. I have been so happy with the tiles that I decided to cover a small concrete area outside of the screened porch. This gave a nice visual extension to the porch. They are quick and easy to install. The two porches have been down for over a year and I continue to be extremely pleased with the appearance.

Overall worth the price, we covered a 20' x 20' concrete patio that had previous finish issues, looks great, nice to walk on. They do not fit perfect like ceramic or other hard tile, the edges vary some, just dont look that close or pay the much higher cost for other tile. I did not buy the clips, since they are on concrete I glued the perimeter tile down with an exterior poly caulk and they have not moved, they are pretty heavy tile and it would take a lot to get them to shift around. If you are looking for a quick fix at a reasonable cost, this is your product. Also, I used a carpet knife to cut and it did well, you have to make 4-5 passes but it cuts nice.

The pavers were easy to install and look great. I purchased them in April 2017 with the connecting clips and followed the directions to install them by myself with no problems. The pavers were installed directly on the ground in the yard, but I did level the ground before installation. Unlike stone pavers, the leveling process does not have to be perfect because of the flexible material used in the Envirotile paver. The pavers met my goal of minimizing the amount of dirt that the kids track into the house from the backyard. One thing to consider -- the Earth paver does get hot to the touch when it is in consistent direct mid-day sun, so you will want to make sure it is not too hot for bare-footed kids. For us, the Envirotile pavers are perfect because we needed a soft walkway from the house to the trampoline and firepit where the kids would not be hurt if they fell on the walkway.

We first used this product about 4+ years ago as our main patio material, over 200 square feet. We laid directly over dirt, landscape fabric and granite sand just as you would normal pavers. We did not use the clips. We had some constraints that made us not want to use normal pavers. After 4+ years we are about to extend our patio further using the same material. We are very happy with the results! Yes, they shift and settle more that you would get from normal pavers, but given we have young toddlers and a pool, we love the softness and non-slip we get from these verses traditional stone pavers.

Front Porch Redo
We bought these tiles to cover our front porch to give it a new look. They came out better than expected! The installation was very easy - they snapped together great. A little difficult to cut, but overall we love the new look! They look sharp and feel great to walk on in bare feet. Overall our front porch is our new favorite place!

Envirotile Cobblestone Earth Pavers Did The Job
I did a considerable amount of research and review reading prior to ordering the Envirotile Pavers. I even wrote directly to the manufacture for additional advice. Positives: The pavers worked as described and look great. Other reviews stated they were difficult to cut, but I found them extremely easy to cut, handle and install. I used a jig saw with a sharp new blade, and it was like cutting through butter. They lined up perfectly, and were not odd sizes as I had feared by older reviews. Perhaps they have changed manufacturing methods, but it was not an issue. Negatives: I used the pavers to cover ugly cracked concrete steps entering my house. The pavers are meant to be used with a clip to attach each paver and line them up perfectly. That could not be done on steps. I used a concrete adhesive recommended by Envirotile, and it worked perfectly, however, where the clips were supposed to go, the underside of the paver is grooved, and you can see the groove at the front of each step. I filled the groove with the mastic and painted it brown to make it disappear. This would not be an issue on a flat floor surface. Overview: I love the completed look of the tiles, and like them so far. After a hard winter in Salt Lake City, I will know for sure if I love them.
