    How about cables
    ByJan 25, 2024

    Answer This Question

When it comes to selecting cables for your home improvement projects, there are several types to consider, each suited for different applications. Here are some common types of cables and their uses: ### **Types of Cables** 1. **Electrical Cables:** - **Romex (NM) Cable:** Commonly used for residential wiring. It consists of two or more insulated conductors and a bare ground wire. - **UF (Underground Feeder) Cable:** Suitable for outdoor and underground use. It is water-resistant and can be buried directly in the ground. - **THHN/THWN Wire:** Used for general building wiring. It is heat-resistant and suitable for use in conduit. 2. **Coaxial Cables:** - Used for transmitting cable television signals, internet connections, and other data communications. It consists of a central conductor, insulating layer, metallic shield, and outer insulating layer. 3. **Ethernet Cables:** - **Cat5e:** Suitable for most home networking needs, supporting speeds up to 1 Gbps. - **Cat6:** Offers higher performance, supporting speeds up to 10 Gbps over shorter distances. 4. **Speaker Cables:** - Used to connect speakers to audio receivers or amplifiers. They come in various gauges, with thicker cables (lower gauge numbers) being better for longer distances. 5. **HDMI Cables:** - Used for transmitting high-definition video and audio signals between devices like TVs, computers, and gaming consoles. ### **Choosing the Right Cable** - **Determine the Application:** Identify what the cable will be used for (e.g., electrical wiring, internet connection, audio setup). - **Check Specifications:** Ensure the cable meets the required specifications for your project, such as voltage rating for electrical cables or speed rating for Ethernet cables. - **Consider Length and Gauge:** For electrical and speaker cables, choose the appropriate length and gauge to ensure efficient performance. ### **Example: Installing an Ethernet Cable** 1. **Plan the Route:** - Determine the path the cable will take from the router to the desired location. - Measure the distance to ensure you have enough cable length. 2. **Choose the Cable:** - Select a Cat5e or Cat6 cable based on your speed requirements. 3. **Run the Cable:** - Use cable clips or conduits to secure the cable along the route. - Avoid [This answer was generated by AI and verified by product experts.]

What size rope will fit this pulley?

Can 2 ropes go on each wheel to accommodate 4 ropes pulling up a deck curtain?

      Answer This Question

For the Everbilt 1-1/2 in. Nickel-Plated Swivel Double Pulley, 2 ropes on each wheel is not a recommended application.

No it's only works with 1 single rope per pulley..

Is the 30 lbs. working load limit really only 30 lbs? Notice that if I connect this to a 30 lb. load, and run two loops of rope from it to the opposite tackle, I've got 4 lengths of rope each carrying 7.5 lbs. And that's the limit. There's a YELLOW and BLACK WARNING that the rope should be of equal or less working load limit, which would mean a rope with a working load of 7.5 lbs or less. So, 1/4" rope? 1/8" rope? Embroidery floss? The pulley is either sized for the wrong rope, or the 30 lb. limit is not right. What's the story here? 30 lbs. is a typo?

            Answer This Question

1/4 inch would be too light. Suggest 3/8 inch up to 1/2 inch line.

I/4 inch diameter wire rope can be used with this pulley.

Not sure the exact size but 1/4 will fit just fine. I am planning to use 3/8 rope and the pulley is beveled to keep smaller rope centered. Hope this helps answer your question.

You can use a light gage wire rope, but check the rating on the pulleys. These are designed for fairly light work.

My truck's fiber glass top was taking up space in my garage. I made a 4 point lift system. I used this Swivel Double Pulley to gather four KingChain 3/32 in. x 1/8 in. cables lines. It was perfect. It is smooth and swiveling is excellent for redirecting cables. Now I have a space in my garage! I'm about to make 2nd lift.

I received it last July 30 in a small box. it was a nickel-plated finish that looked nice. I liked this heavy duty product because it was easy to use swivel with double pulley that rotated easy and easy to lift heavy object with little force. It could do the load up to 30 pounds according to the instruction. To be used with rope or cord. it was useful product. Needed to watch the rope because it would slide over the wheel while the wheel was spinning. It was hard to find the double pulley. Home Depot online had it.

This 1.5 inch double pulley is just the right pulley to use for light duty applications where you need to control two ropes (see picture). The cardboard the pulley was attached to states the working load limit is 30 pounds so this is a light duty pulley, and it states that you should not use this pulley for climbing, overhead lifting, towing, athletic equipment, playground equipment, situations where personal safety or valuable property could be endangered or in support of human or animal weight in any manner.

Plan to use this and make a block and tackle to pull items up to my rafters in the barn. Does not come with a high strength so will use on light weight items. Pulley just large enough for the rope I already have. Very nice nickel finish, should last a long time exposed to the elements in the barn. Came shipped straight to my door in a brown envelope. I highly recommend this product for light duty use.
