A: Over a long duration they would most like rust/corrode. Chlorine & salt exposure make for a difficult environment even though the pulley is nickel plated. I would opt for Stainless Steel (marine grade is better) like used on sail boats.
A: Everbilt 1-1/4 in. Nickel-Plated Swivel Pulley will be appropriate for the application as long as the pulley is not in the salt water and above it.
A: We would not recommend this use. The canopy itself maybe less than 50 pounds, but outside pressure like winds will make the load heavier than 50 pounds.
A: I hang my 20-lb LED grow light from it. I could tell you I made sure by actually pulling on the thing with my entire body weight that it did not Budge. These things are very tough. They're rated for a 150 lbs of tension. Obviously one on each side cuts it in half to be absolutely safe but I guarantee from what I understand from my experiment there's no way it's going to fail.
A: By coincidence I'm using it with 1/8" cord. It's working well!
A: This swivel pulley will work with 1/8 in. paracord.
A: You could use any rope with a 1/4” or 3/16” diameter.
