Hello, Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. Yes, this Type L soft copper coil tubing is ideal for general plumbing purposes, which includes shower plumbing. It is corrosion-resistant, noncombustible, and suitable for potable water applications. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you,
Type L soft copper (ASTM B88) is approved for use with liquefied petroleum (LP) systems.
Both annealed tube and hard drawn tube can be bent with the appropriate hand benders. The proper size of bender for each size tube must be used. For 1/2" Type L tubing, the minimum bend radius is 2-1/2" using a lever-type hand bender.
ID means inside diameter and OD means outside diameter.
I.D. = inside diameter, O.D.= outside diameter
I.D is the inside diameter, O.D is the outside diameter. Tube bends. Tube is measured by the O.D. Pipe doesn't bend. Pipe is a measured by the I.D. Why Home Depot advertises this tube using the ID measurement is beyond me. Because it's tube it should be advertised at 5/8 Soft Copper.
Yes, that's what I used for my connections.
According to SharkBite website, it is compatible with copper pipe. (I don't have experiences with SharkBite.) http://www.sharkbite.com/how-to/sharkbite-push-fit-fittings-how-to-install-pex-tubing-copper-tubing-and-cpvc-tubing/ Greg
