Answer This Question

Dear Valued Home Depot Customer,We have reached out to the manufacturer and their answer is, The Everbilt 1/4 in. Zinc Quick Link has a working load limit of 880 lbs. However, the product details specify that it should not be used for overhead lifting or exceeding the working load limit. Securing a heavy owl box 25 feet high in a tree could be considered an overhead lifting application. For safety, it is recommended to avoid using this quick link for overhead lifting applications.

How wide is the mouth of the link when it is open?

    Answer This Question

Not 1/2 for sure. They arrange .282 to .316 and the 3/16 around .020 smaller

    By|Nov 21, 2023

For this Quick Link, the width of the mouth of the link is 7 - 8 MM when it is open.

      By|Oct 28, 2023

It is about 1/2 inch. Just wide enough to hold another link about the same size this link is.

Is it safe to use this in place of an "S" hook to connect the chains of a large wooden swing (5 ft wide) to the hooks that support the hanging swing?

          Answer This Question

In my opinion, yes and actually preferable as it gives you the option to move it easily yet you cannot accidentally move it. The weight limit is 800 pounds.

          By|Apr 17, 2019

I used them to hook safety chains to my utility trailer. It made changing out the chains much easier. So, unless you have a load over 1000 pounds ( my estimate only), I wouldn't worry about it. Plus the load is being distributed over both sides of the swing, so that makes the load seen on the quick links 1/2. I would use these in place of "S" hooks any time.

          By|May 5, 2023

that should work well for that application so long as you do not exceed the weight limit of 880#'s per link. for you application i would think that should work perfectly

                  Dangerous trash!
Absolute garbage. I purchased two of these to hang a rope hammock. My 3 yr old and I got on the hammock and within 10 minutes we crashed to the ground. Our combined weight was no more than 200 pounds. The "working load limit of 880 pounds" advertised of this product was completely inaccurate. How dare Home Depot sell trash like this that people depend on.

I used this quick link, along with a rubber grommet, to stop a porch swing from squeaking.

Fine piece of gear. Best part about this clip is that the clip has threads on both ends of the clips openings. That means that the ring that screws to the "top" end to close the ring is also screwed to the "bottom" portion of the clip and the ring will not fall onto the bottom portion when you open up the ring as I find in most other types of rings like this one. This makes the clip easy to close up when you are ready to close and screw the ring onto the upper portion of the clip and not be fumbling around trying to get the ring to attach and screw into the clip. The clip is stamped with a rating of 880 lbs.

I really like this that it is easy to use, cheap, and can quickly lock and unlock. I feel secure that the screw clip holds in place and doesn't just slides back down. It is zinc plated which gives it durability. For such a small link I can't believe it can hold 880 pounds. There's not much not to like about this little link. You can use it for keys or anything.

For this 1/4" zinc plated quick link. So much to say about such a simple little product. this is a sturdy little item that has tons of uses & applications. from standard to abstract. with a weight capacity of almost 900# it can be used for many things such as connecting two pieces of:chain, cable, rope. i use them to keep a few sets of keys together. also to attach the breakaway cable for a trailer. to hold id tags on a dog collar. also to provide an easier tie point on a truck & trailer. all in all very usefull
