Hi Home Depot Customer, The working load limit for this Quick Link is 880 lbs.
Can I use this 1/4" quick link to secure my heavy owl box in tree at 25 feet high thats will be secure to this chain link and wrapped around a tree limb. Please advise. Thanks

Can it be use to hang my swing hammock?

Not 1/2 for sure. They arrange .282 to .316 and the 3/16 around .020 smaller
For this Quick Link, the width of the mouth of the link is 7 - 8 MM when it is open.

Is it safe to use this in place of an "S" hook to connect the chains of a large wooden swing (5 ft wide) to the hooks that support the hanging swing?
In my opinion, yes and actually preferable as it gives you the option to move it easily yet you cannot accidentally move it. The weight limit is 800 pounds.
I used them to hook safety chains to my utility trailer. It made changing out the chains much easier. So, unless you have a load over 1000 pounds ( my estimate only), I wouldn't worry about it. Plus the load is being distributed over both sides of the swing, so that makes the load seen on the quick links 1/2. I would use these in place of "S" hooks any time.
that should work well for that application so long as you do not exceed the weight limit of 880#'s per link. for you application i would think that should work perfectly

I USED THESE LINKS TO HOOK UP A SAFETY CHAIN TO MY TRAILER. SAFETY CHAIN IS 1/4 IN LINKS. WORKED FINE SO FAR, BUT HAVE NOT USED THEM TO REPAIR CHAIN. SHOULD WORK FINE ON ALL 1/4 IN APPLICATIONS.
