1 in. Felt guard plus Round Felt Threaded Stem Glides (4 per Pack) is designed for use with displays, office equipment and household furniture with threaded sockets. Their felt bottoms reduce friction and noise, and they prevent marring and scratching of hardwood and laminate floors. They attach easily with 1/4 in. x 20 x 1 in. threaded stems. Offer superior floor protection with the adjustability of height.
Felt allows for discreet scratch-free motion over wood, tile, and laminate floors, but some applications justify attachment methods beyond traditional self-adhesive

Answer This Question
A:Â Technically you could do that, however you run the risk of losing the ability for adjusting the legs. Depending upon the material of your dining table legs the wood may not hold the threads in way to stabilize the table. If you're not looking for the adjustments then screwing them into the leg would work fine.

A:Â Yes, if the threading is compatible.

A:Â No. The screw is a machine screw, not a wood screw. It will loosen if you don't use the insert.

A:Â Total on the ones I installed is 1.25", that is one a one quarter of an inch; however I stepped mine on install, meaning I first drilled the wide for the plastic collar to seat into the table leg, then I used a much smaller bit to drill in the center for the retractable threaded rod.

Q:Can the guides be removed from the screws if not needed. These are replacements?

Answer This Question
A:Â The entire glide will unscrew from the socket. These glides are intended to be used with the provided sockets by drilling a 11/32 inch hole into the bottom of a leg, tapping the socket into the hole, and then screwing the glide into the socket to the desired height.
by|May 5, 2023
A:Â I suppose you could but it would probably damage the felt pad.
by|May 5, 2023
A:Â Hi Marsbar3 yes the guides scan be removed. They screw off.
by|Aug 18, 2016
A:Â Yes !!!!
by|May 5, 2023
A:Â The glides can be remove from the plastic inserts. These are made for adding felt base on the furniture but can be use as replacement as long as the hole is the same diameter and depth for the inserts.

These Threaded Stem Furniture Glides from Everbilt come with four complete stem glides in the package, which is enough to accommodate one four legged piece of furniture. Each stem has a one inch (25mm) diameter glide. The glide has a thick soft felt pad attached to it, which I think is held on with glue. Each stem has a ¼-20 thread, which screws into a durable threaded insert.
These stem glides are not for use on carpeting. The felt pad on the glides will not slide on a carpet. These stem glides are to be used on a hard surface floor like a vinyl, laminate, or hardwood flooring.
You will need a drill, an 11/32 inch drill bit, and a hammer to install these Threaded Glides.
You start by marking the location of the holes you are going to drill with a pen or pencil. If you are installing these on a round furniture leg or chair leg, make certain that you have the center mark directly in the center of the leg.
If the furniture or chair leg happens to be at any angle (not straight, perpendicular to the floor), you should drill the hole for the insert at an angle so when the leg is placed on the floor the glide pad will sit flat on the floor. Failure to do this will result in the glide pad being at an angle and not sitting flat on the floor. This may cause undue stress on the glide, and cause it to bend, or break.
I wrapped a piece of tape around the drill bit one inch up from the end of the drill to mark the one inch depth I needed to drill the holes. If installing these on a piece of furniture that sits flat on the floor without legs (like I did), make sure that the wood is thick enough to drill into one inch deep. You wouldn’t want to drill all the way through it.
You then tap the threaded inserts into the holes with a hammer until the lip of the insert is seated tightly against the furniture.
Then screw the glide into the insert. I screwed them all the way in, but they can be adjusted to different levels to accommodate for uneven floors.
The felt pads will adsorb water or liquids, so keep this in mind if using them on a wood floor.

These threaded stem furniture glides with felt bases are very easy to install. It is simply a four step process. Step 1. Mark where you want the slide to be. Step 2. Drill a hole 1" deep at the mark. Step 3. Tap the plastic insert into the hole with a hammer. Be careful to insert it straight. Step 4. Screw the slide into the plastic insert. These slides are very durable. The felt pads stay adhered as opposed to the type of felt pads that are just "stuck" on with peel off glue. I recommend the threaded stem furniture glides with felt for wood or laminate floors.

Somewhat difficult to install, primarily because 1 of the stems threads was defective. It looked like it was not stamped or machined correctly. I've attached a photo of the endpiece of the stem I cut off, since I thought just the end was bad. I ended up having to hammer it in with my dead blow hammer.
