I got this replacement latch for the new shed door I'm currently constructing. I'm building a barn door style for my shed, with black hinges, and this is the perfect complement to finish the door. The handle is a good size, my hand easily fits through, and the thumb latch lifts the bar behind the door nicely. This isn't a precision piece, it's a basic latch for outdoor use, and it's built to stand up to that purpose. The black finish has a nice texture to it and should withstand years of use. The screws are slightly smaller than I'd like, I'll be replacing with my own bolts that secure through the door with a locknut. But that's just my personal preference know how often this door will be used.

It works well for its intended use. The finish is very nice and durable feels and looks like it’s powder coated. The handle is good looking.
The latch part just seems flimsy and the rivet holding the locking lever does not seem to me that it’s going to last under the heavy use my gates see. The thumb lever that lifts the locking bar is thin as well.
It does look very nice but if your gates get used a lot then maybe a more solid handle/ latch system would work best. These are fairly easy to install and they provide the needed screws for most applications.

EVERBILT 10 IN. HEAVY THUMB LATCH WITH RUST DEFENDER
It is heavy thumb latch and looks pretty. It is strong quality. It is black color. Just perfect to match with the rest black hardwares on my shed door. I use it for my wood door from my shed. I used longer screws to drill to fit thru holes with longer screws for more stronger firm holding on my thick wood door gate. Easy to install it and it looks very pretty.

I had a friend that hasn't got much mechanical aptitude, not unlike a lot of customers. He couldn't figure out how to use the closed loop on the interior latch. He checked the product description, read every step of the instructions and there was no mention of it. He finally found a tutorial on you tube showing it. I knew how to assemble it as I have done several over the years. There isn't even a photo or image of the lock on the package to help with assembly. It should be simple to figure out for anyone, not just contractors.
The parts seem solid and it works well once installed properly. I like the matte black finish. It looks good. I think this one will last a good, long time.

This EVERBILT 10 IN. HEAVY THUMB LATCH WITH RUST DEFENDER is a nice addition for any gate and adds a decorative touch. The large handle is a plus and the finish is nice. I have a couple issues with this set. The screws are soft metal and strip easily if applied in harder or older wood. Make sure to pre-drill all the holes before screwing to lesson the damage. The pin that holds the thumb lever is soft and eventually loosens with my experience of this type of application but takes repeated use before becoming an issue. Especially if in a bind. Make sure to align all pieces carefully to prevent binding. At this price point, this set works ok.

Not great, but looks good (TBD after a year)
Can be difficult to close, the latch doesn't slide over the hook easily due to the shape of the hook, which is strangely not very angled. I ended up making a separate angled piece to help lift the lock bar above the hook, but I shouldn't have had to do that. Looks-wise, it is nice and clean looking from the front. The texture is satisfying to the touch. Durability is TBD

Very sturdy, the power coating is impressive. Wish there was back plating on the opposite side of the door. I have a large gap between my gate and stucco columns, this was the only hardware kit that worked.
