is this 1/8 inch thick
I am wondering if these cables are safety cables, or lift cables. I need one of each so I wanted to use one of these as a lift and one of these as a safety.

how do you attach this lift cable
I would refer to the owner's manual for replacement because it depends on the manufacture. Garage doors are heavy and you will need to release the tension on the door before you can replace the cable. Please refer to the manual or go on utube.com and lookup replace garage door cable.
Can this be used to affect to extension springs through 2 spools and then to the bottom of a 7’ height garage door?
Yes, with the 12ft length that will work.
Why are there loops on both ends? They are not the easiest to cleanly cut so you can feed through the garage door railing. The other end hooks on the lift pin.
If you feed the other end loop around the lift pin, it gives you a stronger connection.
