Can you install it with a regular hammer?
Asked by: AgostoMortal
I invested in a fence post driver (a heavy tube). It fits over the post and is a foolproof way to drive the post down without missing and hitting your finger or other soft target. But a sledge hammer or hammer ought to work as well, just less safely.

Is the 4 ft post 48 inches in total, or is it 60 inches and after you bury it 12 inches, 48 inches are above the ground?
Asked by: Stephen
48 inches total. I had the same question and finally found the under specs, "For bushes, gardens and trees, this U-Post is perfect for supporting lightweight fencing up to 36 in. in height." Also pay attention to "U-post should be carefully driven into the ground 12 in. using a fence post driver or a sledge hammer" as these posts are a thinner gauge than posts I bought in the past. I bent at least one because I was using a 10 lb sledge and the post hit a big rock. Once they are all up and connected they do support each other so the fence is pretty stable. I was using the wire fence to temporarily fence two puppies with combined weight of around 200 lbs and it held up until I could install perm fence.
