This is a simple stake holder. Zinc plating is strong and looks fairly good. Steel is thick and solid. No bolts included with the unit but the hardware needed will depend on the job you are doing and the other material being installed. Works on 2x4 wood if mounting a fence - or for a security bar on a door/gate. Fit is larger than a 2x4 - to make it possible to slide in a locking bar. There is some "play" in the fitment of a 2x4 as would be expected for constant use. Total length is just under 8 inches - plenty of space for mounting.

Definitely a very strong zinc plated stakeholder. I was surprised to see how actually thick it is. I’d say it’s about a quarter inch thick maybe a little less. The opening inside is an exact 4 inches. I was thinking of using this to closing important storage unit with a bar across the door. And I got some hardwood lumber that’s exactly 4 inches and it’s a good fit without wiggling up and down. It’s got four holes ready for 3/8 lag bolts. What I really like is that it doesn’t flex at all. So I wasn’t scared of accidentally bending it or anything like that. If you needed to shape it I’m pretty sure if you heated it and bang around you can shape it but at the same time it is zinc plated and I’m not sure how it will react. I have not seen any signs of rust or wear. But it’s definitely heavy duty and if you put this on a door or holding a post against something it will definitely do the job and will not fail.

I thought these Everbilt 2" X 4" stake holders would be good for a home-made jig I was making to hold doors straight up on the side to plane them, attach hinges, etc. They are made of a decent thickness steel and have a good height and width with four screw holes. The disappointing thing about these brackets are that the actual size of the opening is 1 7/8" X 3 7/8" which I found to be too big to hold a standard 2 X 4 decently.

I found this Everbilt 2 inch X 4 inch zinc plated stake holder to be well formed with no burs or sharp edges and with the thickness of the steel extremely strong. I was thinking of using this stake holder to build wood sides for a small trailer but at this time I used it in my barn to support the 2 x 4 I use to lock my barn door. It works perfect and is just loose enough to allow the 2 X 4 to slip in and out as needed. The zinc plating should protect these stake holders from the weather and I will be buying more to build the sides for my trailer. Using 3/8 inch bolts it should be very strong and last for years of service.

Theses stake holders are very well made compared to others I've seen on the market. As you can see from the pictures I posted the steel plating is thicker than on another brand I have and it has more holes to fasten it to where ever your mounting it. It has a good heavy Zinc coating on it so it should hold up well under weather for a good long time. The opening is is wider than a 2x4 so you'd have to use a 2x6, cut down on the end, for the stake. Most all the brands I've seen require some altering of the stake to make them fit. I plan on using these to mount on a mobile wood rack so I can have braces to lean plywood against when I'm sorting through the panels.

This is a heavy duty bracket. It is just a bit over 1/8" in thickness. The zinc plating looks like it was well done. It is 2-5/16" wide x 7-3/4" long. A normal sized 2 x 4 (1.5" x 3.5") wood stud will fit into it but it full rough size 2 x 4 will not. The rough 4" will be tight between the sides but the full 2" will never fit. So with a pair of these and a regular stud you can bar a door or gate as you see fit.

The Everbilt 2" x 4" Zinc plated stake holder is perfect for a flat bed / utility trailer conversion project I'm working on. At times, I need to convert my side by side UTV hauling trailer to a utility trailer with taller sides for more cubic cargo capacity. Securing the Everbilt stake holders on sides and front of trailer frame with 2' X 4' supports, the trailer can easily transform into a high capacity utility trailer. .

My initial intention was to use the stake holder for the side boards on my trailer. The ones I have are slightly undersized for a 2x4 and I needed to trim the 2x4’s to fit into the stake holders. In the instance of this stake holder in this review, the opposite is the case and a 2x4 fits looser than I would like. I contemplated trimming down 2x6 lumber. I did put the stake holder to rigorous strength testing in the vise, and found the stake to be superlative in strength. The stake holder will take extreme lateral force. I used a 12-inch C-clamp with the stake holder in the vice to bend it. I am very confident with a number of these side by side such as a trailer, it will take enormous pressure to bend them or make them budge. If your application can use a full 2x4” inside measure, these are beyond strong and worth it. It did not work for my needs and which it would firmly hold a 2x4 with a smaller inside measure. I respect strength and these are beyond sufficient for everything up to industrial in my opinion.

These ARE heavy duty build, and think enough that they will not bend, and hard enough that you will probably need some heavy duty tools if you want to cur them down or drill different holes... The opening is slightly over the dimensions of a 2x4 so it will not bind when installing or wemoving the 2x4, and they can be used for several purposes. I suppose the "steak holder" name indicates use on a steak-bed truck or trailer, but these can also be used to reinforce a door, mounting one on either side of the door frame, and sliding a 2x4 through them, to keep the door from being forced open, at least, as long as you mount them securely enough. I got these two first, just to make sure they will be suitable for our plans- we are going to need two more sets for a trailer, in order to have either three walls, or to make the trailer longer and wider, depending on the particular use we need at any given time. Think hauling stuff with the walls up, or turning it into a raised platform for an off-the-ground temporary hunting camp.

If you are looking for stake holders that can be used to brace your fortress gate against giant troll invaders, these are for you. Super strong, well built. Installation would be a breeze using four lag screws or bolts, depending, of course, upon your particular project needs. The metal is quite thick, see pic for reference. Don't even try to drill through these. Although I imagine you could do it, you will go through a few drill bits for sure.
