Q:Can I bend this connector 90 degrees ? Not sure what the 2.5 inch minimum turn radius means ?
by|Dec 5, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Dave - Yes it can be bent 90 degrees so long as it doesn't exceed a 2.5" bend radius. Since "radius" is half of a "diameter" measurement, if you have a circle/wheel that is 5" measured end-to-end through the middle, it would have a radius of 2.5". Your water heater supply line can bend around the outside of the circle/wheel without kinking.

        Q:Can you connect 2 together

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Steve - Mechanically, yes. However, the standard limits the maximum length of water heater connectors to 24". Therefore if you connect 2 together, that would be outside the scope of the standard and is not approved.

We purchased 2 Everbilt 3/4 in. FIP x 3/4 in. FIP x 15 in. Stainless Steel Water Heater Supply Lines and 2 Everbilt Brass nipples to extend our water lines for our newly installed tankless water heater as the existing lines were too short. The existing stainless steel lines are also made by Everbilt - I had replaced the old ones with the existing about a year ago. BTW - buying these 2, 15" long water lines and nipples to extend the lines was $20 cheaper than buying 2 longer ones! Highly recommended!

I got this 3/4”x 3/4” stainless steel water heater from Everbilt because I just replace the water heater and needed to connect the water supply to the heater and the hot water to the house. This pair of hoses are made with excellent quality materials and don’t need to put Teflon tape on the threads for the installation because they have a rubber seal on each side of the hose and that’s what makes it water tight seal.

          Could leak
These may be simple fixes but the washers do not like very tapered pipe ends and just the slightest over tightening will destroy the washer. Had leak upon installation but thankfully I bought a different style at same time which seemed to seat better in a pipe with more of a blunt edge

check to make sure that the pipe nipples that you are attaching to are in good condition and be sure to not over tighten the nut. The directions for the tightening of the nuts state, hand tighten plus 1/4 turn with a wrench. Over compressing the washer will result in damage to the washer and a leak. ValenciaPipe
