Q:Can these be directly connected to the top of a hot water heater without a nipple without dielectric considerations.

Answer This Question

A:  Hi, TomP - Yes. They actually have dielectric sleeves built in. Sorry that bullet point seems to fall off the hd.com website. We will fix that!

Q:Can this be used for adding an Expansion Tank.
    by|Jan 9, 2024
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hi, Jlau - Mechanically it would most likely work so long as your installation is within the pressure and temperature parameters of the supply line. However, most water heater connectors are to be used from the main supply line end to the tank itself. In that this could be a code issue, we suggest you check your local codes to see if it can be done.

The one we replaced, Everbilt, blew a hole in the braided line. Pressured water flooded the garage. Have never seen a braided line blow. We replaced with, Everbilt, braided line and one of the braided lines just kept leaking at the connection. Note: we replaced 2, but only 1 leaked. We ended up replacing both of the brand new, replaced Everbilt lines, with a new brand, after so much trouble with Everbilt.

I am sorry to hear about the trouble that you are having RAH. These water connectors are rated for a maximum operating pressure of 125 psi and a max operating temperature of 160°F. Please check your system pressure and temperature. Excessive pressure and temperature will decrease the service life of water connectors and could cause the type of failure that you are describing. If possible, give me a call so I can learn more about your installation? (661) 257-3923. I am here from 8-5 Los Angeles Time M-F. Ask for Jon. ValenciaPipe

Purchased two of these lines when installing a brand new hot water heater. Both flex lines would form a water tight seal to the brass threads sweated to the copper lines, neither would form a proper water tight seal to the dialectic nipples on the hot water tank. Replaced both with tradictional copper supply lines, no more leaks. Home Depot should pull this product, it's absolute garbage. Also, read the instructions, you're supposed to check for leaks every 6 months. Yeah, like that's ever going to happen in the real world.

I am sorry that you had that problem. You may want to consider turning your water off when you are away from your house for that long. ValenciaPipe

Helped simplify a complex water heater replacement -- we still had several copper sweat joints to connect for our hydroponic floor heating system. The new system did seem to cut the flow of hot water to the house -- no big deal. But with the two new Supply Lines and reconnection, the floor heating system is much quieter (no sound ;-).

I had no problem with this product as far as connecting to the water heater or the supply lines even after three wraps of teflon and pipe dope Both ends had a good tight fit Only a few days into this but not leaks or discoloration. Made up great with the existing copper line
