While some users have mentioned using 5/16 inch rope, the wheel's valley is 1/4 inch. Using rope much smaller than 1/4 inch may cause it to get wedged.
In order to use a chain with the 2" pulley, the outer diameter of the chain should be less than 0.3 in. For better performance and smoother operation, we recommend using a wire rope or nylon rope instead of a chain.
