Whats the best way to cut this rope?
    ByMay 2, 2024
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

To cut the heavy-duty diamond braid polypropylene rope, follow these steps: ### Tools Needed: 1. **Sharp Scissors or Utility Knife:** Ensure the blades are sharp to make a clean cut. 2. **Lighter or Heat Source:** To fuse the ends and prevent fraying. ### Steps: 1. **Measure and Mark:** Measure the length of rope you need and mark the cutting point with a piece of tape or a marker. 2. **Cut the Rope:** - If using scissors, make sure they are sharp enough to cut through the rope cleanly. - If using a utility knife, place the rope on a cutting board or a stable surface and cut through the marked point. 3. **Fuse the Ends:** - Use a lighter or another heat source to carefully melt the ends of the rope. This will prevent the rope from fraying. - Hold the flame close to the end of the rope until it starts to melt, then quickly press the melted end with a piece of metal or a flat tool to seal it. ### Safety Tips: - **Avoid Overheating:** Be careful not to overheat the rope, as it can produce harmful fumes. - **Work in a Ventilated Area:** Ensure you are in a well-ventilated area when fusing the ends to avoid inhaling any fumes. - **Keep a Safe Distance:** Keep your hands and other body parts away from the flame to avoid burns. By following these steps, you can effectively cut and seal the heavy-duty diamond braid polypropylene rope for your projects. [This answer was generated by AI and verified by product experts.]

Can this be used as a cloths line?

    Answer This Question

I guess you can if you use cloth hangers. I wouldn't suggest you hang cloths directly on the rope.

It is a very strong rope. Thicker than clothes lines I remember as a kid but we have found many uses for it.

        It's paper.😯
Bought this to hang a tire swing. When cutting it I noticed it had a funny looking white core. I peeled the polypropylene outer sheath back and the entire core of this rope is literally 2 100' pieces of rolled up napkin. Needless to say the tire swing is now hanging by American made Atwood rope that was only $10 more.

I'm using this rope with a carabiner and a rope tightener to make a tie down strap. Can easily make the strap as long or short as I want.

I needed about 25 feet of rope to tie between 2 railings as a guide for people going up a few stairs and this did the trick!

          Great rope!
I needed rope that was sturdy and could withstand a lot of pressure with stretching the drum head. It was good and didn't frazzle too much at the ends as I was looping it and handled the pressure as I raised the jacks. It was also pretty easy to untie after all of that which was an unexpected plus!

We bought this rope for non-traditional usage. I attached the top of a piece of rope to the entry point of my downspout gutter. I rand the rope down to the bottom, cut the line and tied a knot in the end. This will stop the dripping and associated noise in my downspouts. The rope works great. The polypropylene should last a decade or more. Good product.

Pretty good rope, it is very light and durable. It also holds knots well. I used it to hang a tree swing. The only downsides to polypropelyne rope is that it degrades faster in UV light than other ropes and it has a bit of a stretch. When I hung the swing, I hung it high as the rope stretches a bit when weight is applied. Weight limit is 310 lbs but knots weaken it. I do not swing with my kids on it. I trust it for 50 or 60 lbs on a swing. I will probably replace it once a year or use polyester rope next year. This rope is made in China.
