The magnetic door stop is not recommended for outdoor use as rust will occur.
Ours are installed in hollow doors. You may want to tap the door where the stopper would go (about an inch above the bottom and an inch in) to listen and see if there is wood. I'm pretty sure hollow core doors still have real wood around the perimeter edges.
No.. the magnet is only strong enough to hold open a free swinging door. I don't believe the magnet is strong enough to hold open a door with an automatic door closing device.

The door stop magnetic force is 7 lbs. and suits most of the doors. Please check the instructions about installing the magnet.
