Hi Hary, Yes. It will work (if it will not, you can confidently return it back within 180 days!). Use aluminum foil tape or clamp to secure though. Good luck!

If your dryer exhaust is hot enough to ignite plastic, it's going to catch your clothes on fire. The high setting of your dryer may have an exhaust temp. about 140 - 155 °F. This temp. will vary by manufacturer. If your exhaust temp. is much higher, please consider having the dryer checked. The melting point of Polypropylene is about 266 °F, but the ignition temp. is much higher. The autoignition temp., (or the lowest temperature in which it spontaneously ignites in a normal atmosphere without an external source of ignition, such as a flame or spark. autoignition) is about 730 °F. Cotton, which is combustible, starts to decompose when the surface temperature reaches approximately 205°F and in the process, generates its own heat.

what size and type of screw do you use to connect this to sheet rock

This is good question! You better not to tighten it direct;y to sheet rock - whole assembly will be sloppy. I used "bolt, nut, and two washers" assembly. Pre-drill openings. Worked well for me ! If you believe in plastic then you can try dry wall screw with washer close to the head and drive the screw through the sheer into plastic of the connector. May work as well. Hope it all helps! I would say that wide washer for sheet-rock will be highly recommended (IMHO).

Does this seal tightly, or does air leak out around the joint?

Yes, the flange seals pretty tight. If your wall isn't flat, you might seal the flange with some caulking.

I think, because the draft-blocker would be something to use on the exterior wall and this product is for connecting the dryer duct to an interior wall.

Doesn't Home Depot sell a DIY kit that shoots through an exterior/garage wall, that I can't find?

Your application seems very specific. We would recommend going to your local Home Depot Store and an associate will be glad to help you.

For the portion that mounts on the drywall how does the duct work attach to the other side.

One side is mounted with fasteners and the other piece clips into it.

Can this be used with a gas dryer?

Answers

Yes. Temperatures from gas dryer should be no higher at the wall than an electric dryer. In addition, PVC has a very high melting point and does not present a problem.

Perfect for Floor Mounted Quick Connect
I a new laundry room just off of my dining room. In the past I have seen major problems with having the vent from my dryer go up a wall and out. In my new setup, the dryer vent goes through the floor parallel to the floor and out the exterior wall. With a bit of trimming, I was able to melt this flush against the wall as seen in the photo. I use the standard 4 inch duct elbow connected to a 5 foot piece of 4 inch duct ( to get back into a place where I could not reach to place the elbow). 1 screw holds the 4in duct elbow flush with the floor and this connector slips right in nice and flush

Okay for some ‘outdoor’ vent purpose but not what I needed for indoors. I thought the snap fitting would be air tight and there was too much warm air and lint dust blowing around into my garage , I have my dryer duct leading into a hole in my brick wall in my garage. I needed a way to be able to frequently take apart easily to clean about once a month. This does not work unless you then wrap duct tape around the snap fit area. I had to return this item. The screw together threaded type of this vent junction is what I ended buying instead.”
